I lost maggie tonight!!

Oh I had lots of evidence. Police just don't do much.
It is illegal though.

That's most unfortunate. We had an issue with crank callers and since I really didn't feel like a legal battle, I just started answering unidentified calls placed after 11pm with, "-Insert City- Morgue, you kill 'em, we chill 'em." Or my friend's favorite, "Stacey's Crematorium, are you interested in our 2 for 1 special? Baked extra crispy just for you." (Teenage me had a particularly cringe worthy sense of humor.)

Maybe it's just a last ditch effort, but are there any reputable pet detectives out you way? I know you've done an exhausting amount of work, but they might have more free time and energy to continue searching. Just a thought. :-/

Hey, Mark.

You're not in a good place right now, and understandably so. If I were in your predicament, I'd feel like tuning up that little punk, myself. In fact, I'm not even in your predicament and I still feel like doing so on your behalf.

But I suggest that you stay away from the little twerp for the time being. Should you show up outside of his home and call him out, you could find yourself goaded to the point where you actually lay hands on him.

Immediate gratification and a target for your frustration? Sure. But then you'll have multiplied your problems.

If you want to do the phone call thing, that's fine. Just don't put yourself in a position where you can physically act on the additional frustration that little idiot is making you feel.

He's not worth it.

Maggie's the only focus. He's just a fecal smear with nothing better to do.

Definitely not worth using up any energy on, little sh$t head!

Stay cool, stay focused on Maggie. Keep your neighbourhood positivity. Letting one jerk ruin it, it's what they live for, hate, negativity and ruining peoples lives. Could be a reasonable kid underneath all the cr3p but never been shown another way?

If you have cultivated good relations with local pet shops and their staff in the vicinity has anyone been buying Parrot supplies that doesn't usually?

Hi, I'm new not only to the forum but to birds as well. I've seen the story of your beautiful baby a few places, and I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am that you are going through this.

I have no fresh ideas to offer, unfortunately. I just wanted to offer my support and encouragement at this time.

I'm not familiar with macaws, but if I'm not mistaken, the facial markings are kind of like fingerprints, correct? Where they are different for every bird?

I want to share her info on my facebook for you so maybe some of my friends can help send it around as well. I've got people all over Texas. As previously stated, all exposure helps.

Sorry guys. The stress was getting to me last night.

The latest round of crank calls really set me off... I got angry!

I'm better this morning. Let it go. Water off a duck. Back to work.

This kid just has a hard time understanding how a grown man can be that attached to a bird, and thinks tormenting me is funny...

It is illegal though.

Especially where, in my case, I've invited the public to call me if there is any sign of her...

I told him I saw his bird, then he gets mad at me for calling...

Yeah. Nothing good will ever come of this. Time to just let it go.

That's OK Mark, because we all understand, honestly.

Maybe for future generations that's where the school visits could help and educate the 'hopeless' cases? Not a good time to think about this I know but maybe for the future, who knows?

You're right. I just wasn't thinking clearly last night. I let it get to me.

I'm over it, and nothing good can come from going over there.

Mark its time to branch out. Even esp Houston. If I had a bird I knew was being looked for as hard as you are. I would move out of the area if I wanted to sell her. Especially the Flea Markets and Shops.

TV / Radio stations have classified sections. List her again go out of the area.

If you have to fax them a Poster of Maggie ask them pin it up for you.

At least this is what I would do

I've already got eyes in Houston and Dallas, believe it or not!

Mark, I'm sorry I rarely venture out of the eclectus sub forum and I just read through this thread. I can't imagine what you guys are going through. And I unfortunately don't have any new ideas that haven't been mentioned and tried.
I pray this story has a happy ending for everyone involved. Hang in there.

Mark, have you thought about calling local TV stations? They LOVE stories like this. Try stations in both Dallas and Houston. You can reach so many more people that way. Also, if somone has seen your Maggie, they will call into the TV station with tips. Please keep us updated. Praying for protection over Maggie and that you find her soon.

I've called the TV Stations. I got one to agree to do it. But they haven't aired it.

Oh thats good. I figured you had, but I never like ASSUMING anything. I have a few relatives in Houston and in Dallas. I will have them keep thier eyes and ears to the ground. .. Just in case.

This is a pretty far fetched idea but are there any wild parrot flocks in the area? Maybe she heard familiar flock calls that drew her up and away from the area you have been searching? It's pretty likely someone has her at this point but there are still other possibilities.

Another idea for you: see if you can can track down some affordable sound recording devices and willing folks and you can set up a macaw scream loop and some food at as many houses as you can in all the areas she was spotted. Try to draw her into a trustworthy yard.

She will show up. She has to. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and I am constantly checking this thread...good news will show up soon.

I've done the next best thing. I've walked the neighborhoods where she might be playing macaw screams.

NOTHING!

So either she's not there, not alive, or someone has her already.

I'm betting someone has her.

I'm betting if they keep her in a cage for very long, that reward money is going to start looking awfully good, because she'll probably throw an absolute fit!

I've been so anxious for Maggie's return that I filled my boyfriend in on the 'sitch and he's rooting for the both of you now as well. Not that it does any good all the way here in California, but I think the more heads we bring together really helps...

If someone has nabbed her, fingers crossed they notice your efforts soon so that she can come home.

Considering your frustrations, sadness, and worry, venting amongst friends is far healthier than the alternative. I have found it helpful during periods of strife to write scathing indictments of my demons, stuff I might never share with another human - and then tear the paper into shreds and flush it down the toilet! Works well and is totally harmless!!
