Introducing Sid(ney)! Our New BCC!

 WOW, Blanca! Sidney's got a MANSION! And a beautifully furnished one, too! :D I lied! It will take him less than 4 hours to realize he's gone to heaven!!

He's such a cutie pie! Love how he looks (at you)!!!

Lol! Thanks Wendy! ;) It is a great cage. I bought it used a few years ago. I think it is a great size for him and was the perfect bar spacing. The perches were from when Quincy used it. But you know I will have to go shop for our new guy and spoil him just a little! ;) That's on the agenda for today.
Ooooo he's pretty!!!
Thanks, he is a handsome boy. :D

What a gem of a bird. You don't see as many blue crowned as you do other conures. Sounds social too if you and your husband were already able to hold him. You must be over the moon with your new addition! Glad he didn't have to make the return trip either

Edit: That's a nice cage! He looks thrilled with his new home. I bet he'll be settled down and your new best friend in no time

I'm glad he didn't have to either Kiwibird. :). My husband is looking forward to getting him out this morning. I think we finally found a bird he can enjoy from more then just a distance! ;)
Congratulations on bring home the little guy! I think you are going to have a lot of fun with him once his personality starts to emerge. They are great birds.
Thanks James! He is going to be a character. I can see it in his eyes and birdatude! ;)
I think James and I can agree that Sydney (no matter how you spell it) is a great name. Congrats!
I named my first bird I had 17 years ago Sidney. He was a Quaker. [emoji7] Love the name. I did look up the spelling and I guess in most situations Sydney is common for girls and Sidney is common for boys. I was debating how to spell it, since he is male (we think anyway) we will go with Sidney. ;)
Welcome home, Sidney, you handsome boy!

Congratulations, Blanca! He's a real beauty.
Thanks Allee! :)

All is quiet this morning. Not a peep yet. But I'm sure that will change once our little Sid settles in after a few days. :)

Thanks for posting more photos of Sidney! He really is a gorgeous BCC! Keep us posted on how he is settling in!

My African grey was Sydney. Never DNA tested. Died of cancer my vet thought this February. I always referred to him as a boy.

Adorable!! Congrats!

He is so cute and what a sweetie already giving kisses! I'm really happy for you and for Sidney. He looks like he is taking it all in stride.
By the way, that wooden mouse toy is really super cute.

He came with 3 toys and that was one of them. No idea where they got it. But it's one of his favorites.

Beautiful bird and pics:) It's so true when they say rescue birds can be a total treasure! I'm happy you found this treasure and he found you:)

We feel lucky to have this sweet cutie pie! ;) He certainly is a treasure!

He looks good right in the middle of the updated signature picture. A good looking blue crown with nice feathers.

Have you noticed being under constant observation yet? If he is anything like my pair, especially Rosco, he will be watching everything you and everyone else in your home are doing and learning your patterns. They are quite the clever things.

Yes! We keep saying he is so curious and loves watching us! Lol! He such a gem! Didn't realize this was a BCC trait. It's fun to see him so interested. :)
Congratulations! What a lovely looking bird.
Thank you! :)

If you don't mind looking/feeling a little silly (what bird owners do?) you can try something to help you bond with him. It works just about every time with my pair. I tried it once on a scared blue crown I encountered and he responded to me.

Stand about 3 feet from him with your arms at your side. Bow slowly towards him and make a "murrrrr" sound and repeat. I usually say "birrrrrrrrrd" towards my pair with a slightly rising pitch. Both of them will start bowing and murrring back at me. They can get really excited. In the middle of it I will occasionally whistle high pitched and they will stand straight up and squeal back. It can be really funny with that kind of "conversation" going on.

Awww we have a flock of Blue Crown Conures that fly around Point Loma. I am doing an Estate Sale there and they come everyday and hang out at the house. They are very funny to watch as they interact with each other.

That must be very cool to see! :)

I will have to try that! :)
