Introducing Sid(ney)! Our New BCC!

I was just thinking of Sidney for a while today, wondering how he is doing? Hope you guys are having fun and totally enjoying each other.

They are quite the characters, aren't they? Although I do have to admit to sometimes being exasperated at Rosco's agitating of ancient old Tootsie (who LOUDLY overreacts to everything done to her) I have to say that every day he does something to make me laugh. And he seems to know what he is about while doing it too. I have not met too many blue crowns but most of them seemed to have that quirky bit in their personalities.

We are totally having fun with this guy. We did go away on vacation for 4 days a week before last, but Sidney did well and seems to be adjusting again. Even though we take him out of his cage with a perch and hold him to get him used to our hands, I am still doing trust building exercises by feeding him pieces of almonds (his favorite) while sitting next to his cage. He is now coming all the way out of his cage to take food from my hands. :) He also will sit outside of his cage now with me there.

He is definitely hand shy, but I think he will adjust in no time. We never take him out of his cage using our hand as he clearly does not like hands approaching him in his cage. So we are using a perch when we have to get him out to take him to the shop. When we do ask him to step up onto our hands away from his cage, he seems fine but would much rather be on our shoulder.

I do believe he was trying to talk the other day but I couldn't make it out. Yesterday I noticed he was making noises that sounded like a baby cry and crows. LOL! He is coming out and hanging out on his play gym more and more so I think he is getting comfortable with his environment.

He certainly joins in the noise when the macs get started. So it's fun to listen to him tell us his two cents! ;) I am sure his personality will come out more and more over the next few weeks.

Here are some pics of him hanging outside. We ate outside one night and had Sidney join us.

I love this picture. It's almost like he is peekabooing. :D
