Moluccan x Major Mitchell Cockatoo hybrid (?)

You don't think all cockatoos share common ancestors? Not just generally but in an immediate sense, this is a bit obvious to me.

I didn't say that anywhere?
Let's look at ligers. Tigers and lions are both from the felidae family but they are two entirely different genus, so when they interbreed the offspring has numerous health complications on top of being infertile. This would be the same in birds, you'd be dooming the offspring to suffer the entirety of its life.

We're not talking about tigers and lions here, we're talking about Bengal tiger vs. Siberian tiger

No, actually. Those are two SUB species of tiger. In Bird terms, more like red sided eclectus and Solomon island eclectus, again SUB species, not entirely different species.

Silversage is right. Bengals and Siberians are part of the same genus, just different sub species. These two cockatoos are different genus like the lion and tiger.

I think this is sort of the same thing as breeding dogs. Responsible, ethical breeders do NOT breed dogs of different breeds together, as it taints and changes the traits, attributes and looks of the breed, making a mutt. Nothing wrong with mutts, but you find a ton of them in shelters as they are usually bred by people who are ill-educated and want to make a profit off their dog getting knocked up, don't care about bettering the breed or anything. Back yard breeders!

But in the bird world, it works differently. Often times hybrid species are born sterile or infertile and have no success at reproducing or die shortly after birth. Almost as if life said nope, things didn't add up right here. There's a reason why you don't see any of these hybrid birds out there or people readily breeding them, because usually it ends in failure.
