(Arugula) “Rue- Cinnamon Green Cheek Conure
I’ve never posted anything to a forum before so hopefully this will turn out alright. I’m new to the role of parrot ownership, my current bird being my first. I’m like a new mother and nervous about every little thing that “goes wrong”. Arugula or “Rue” is my rescued cinnamon green cheek conure. I have not had her officially sexed, so “she” is used lightly. She is approximately 1.5 years old and I have had her just shy of a year now. She was seized as part of an animal cruelty case and my local SPCA was awarded custody of her as well as all the other animals that were part of the case. She has a lot of trust issues but has come an amazingly long way since the day I brought her home. I’m always looking for advice and have found Informative and calming words posted here. Today, after an emergency with Rue, that has left us shaken to say the least, I decided it was time to join up. I look forward to hearing from you all!

Hi! I’m new here too, but welcome aboard! Lol. I don’t think it matters how much experience you have with birds, they become your baby instantly and everything that happens makes you worry. I have 3 children along with our large flock and I feel almost as bonded to my feather babies as I am to the children I gave birth to! We even have first aid kits for both next to each other on the shelf. Every milestone for both is a big deal. I was proud as a peacock the first time my cockatiels perched on my shoulders. Taking pictures & sending them out to brag! I hope Rue is okay & it scared you more than her. That’s how ours have turned out so far. I’m shaken & they enjoyed the car ride to the emergency room. Hope to talk with you more!

Hello & welcome to you & Rue!
I'd love to see pictures of your baby, we do love pictures here:)
I'm so happy you joined us!

Welcome! Sounds like you’ve made great progress with Rue :). Tons of great info on here and lots of us have conures (I have 3). Hope to see more of you and Rue.

Welcome rue and mum am knew to the forum helped me also.

Arugula! What a great name. I hope the scare she gave you was worse for you than for her. Glad you’re here.

A warm welcome and thanks so much for rescuing Rue. You'll never know the horrors "she" experienced, but the baggage will linger for a long while.

The posted links should be helpful. Time and love will transform her into a wonderful companion. Rue is beautiful!!
