Only one more sleep....

Oh she's STUNNING not boring LOL! :D So much blue on the face!! I just love it!

What a sweetie! I can see why you are totally in love! It has been hours since your last photo....when can we have the next one?? [emoji3]

Awwww what a little cutie!happy you picked her up safely
I really want a big bird now for my flock!!!! Just gorgeous!!!!

Ok sorry for the delay in the next photo. There are lots of places along the Queensland coast where there is no phone reception. So we got home about 6:15pm. Bundii does not seem to care that there is another bird in the house. All she wanted was scritches and food.

So this one was taken just moments ago. Sorry for it being dark but she is very sleepy and I had already turned out all the lights for the night.

We are leaving her in the travel cage for the night as the new big cage seemed to freak her out and it has been a rather long and probably frightening day for Millie. We have all day tomorrow to get used to the cage and sort out the perfect setup for her.

Anyways, I am off to bed after the exhausting 8 hour drive. Well, I did not actually drive, hubby did, but it is exhausting looking after a baby birdie. :D

Plenty of photos to come tomorrow. Good night all.

So happy to hear you, hubby and Millie made it home safe and sound. :) Wow, that was a LONG car ride for sure, you all must be so tired!!

You put an instant smile on my face when I read that Bundii didn't even care about Millie, only wanted some lovin' from his mum. :D

Tomorrow will be a brand new day - let the adventures and the fun begin. I am thoroughly looking forward to pics, which are NEVER boring, nor are your updates, Amanda!! :)

Now I can officially say "Welcome home, Millie!" :smile015:

Yeah! What Wendy said! Welcome home Millie and well done Amanda and hubby for the long haul. We can't wait to see pics of both your gorgeous green girls, Amanda. :)

Thank you both Wendy and Trish. Yes it was a long drive considering we had only done it in reverse the day before to get to the Gold Coast. That is over 16 hours driving in the last 2 days. I don't want to see the inside of the car for a while.

Tomorrow will be all about getting used to the cage. She is still a little unsettled at the moment. It is like she wants to go to sleep but keeps falling slightly which wakes herself up. She then grips the perch tightly making a tapping sound. I guess she is just getting used to everything.

Oh my goodness she is beautiful! How exiting for you all!! Glad to hear Bundi is happy too!

Nawwwwww... she is just too precious:D And you've given her branches with leaves for her car ride lol. Sounds like Miss Millie is going to do well with cars and perhaps be a real adventurous bird:D I am just so thrilled for you! And she is a stunning BFA, I just love the ones with lots of blue on their faces!

OMG SHE LOOKS SOOO CUTE!!! The way she looks on the pics reminds me alot about the day I brought home Kiki, indescribable feeling right? I can't wait to see more pictures, and to hear how it's going with her, how she's settling in a.s.o. Give her some time though, a couple of days to settle in, and she will start to open up and be alot more co-operative. Take a couple of days out of work, if you can. And spend them mainly training & bonding with her. That's what I did. :)

I'm so happy for you! And best of luck to you both!! :D :D

I am so glad y'all made it home without any problems! Millie is just stunning, and you could never be boring, Sweet Pea. I can't wait to see more pictures and hear stories about her!
I bet that she will settle right into her new cage.

Millie is beautiful, and I'm so glad Bundii approves... or at least cares so little as to amount to the same thing. [emoji23]

Like everyone else, I'm looking forward to more pics!

OMG Amanda she's SO CUTE!!! And 16 hours of driving?! [emoji33][emoji33]

Let us know how she's doing today- hopefully she's settled in a bit :)

Welcome home Millie!

What a long drive ( I have motion sickness) I even get seasick in the bath tub! :D

Millie is one beautiful girl though, congratulations!!

So we have been home over 36 hours now. Things are going good but slowly. When Bundii come home, she just kind of moved in and that was that. She ate straight away, slept and moved about her cage with ease. Millie on the other hand is taking things really slowly. This is fine with me but I am nervous over everything. I just want to make sure she has everything she needs and is getting enough food, water and sleep.

The first night we just kind of hand fed her and got her to have a drink and then let her go to bed. She wouldn't get in the bigger cage so she slept in the travel cage. Yesterday morning, I transferred her to the bigger cage. She took to it ok. She is having trouble understanding that you can move around the cage. She was only sitting on the one perch and would not move around. When I went out yesterday morning to get the South American mix food, I thought I will get a boing and hang that I the cage. It seemed to work but then she could not work out how to get down. She spent a lot of time yesterday afternoon growling etc as she could not work out how to get down. At one point, she just kind of jumped and crashed in the cage. So I ended up taking the boing out and letting her sit on the perch she favoured so that she would eat. Boing when back in just before bed and that is where she slept last night.

This morning she still was unsure on how to get off boing and was clearly hungry. I lifted her down and she would get straight back in boing. I have ended up securing boing and pulling it down and that is seeming to work. She is currently just finished eating and has climbed back into boing. It seems like she does not know that you can use the cage bars to move about. I guess it will be slowly slowly.

She makes these cute baby noises which are just adorable. She is making them behind me as I write this. I have had her in her cage for most of this time just so she can get used to her surroundings. Today will be spent getting her used to being outside of the cage so she can enjoy some out of cage time. I go back to work tomorrow but hubby is home for another week.

She accidental flew onto bundii's cage yesterday afternoon and Bundii did not even flinch. Hubby just picked her up told her no and out her back on her cage. Event over. My heart though was going a million miles an hour.

Anyways, that is enough out of me. So for the long post. I am just a nervous mum who wanted to make sure that her two babies get everything they need. I will take some pics shortly and post them.

Dont worry, She will start to eat on her own and drink soon. It might take days for her to eat or drink in worst cases. But they can handle that. Sometimes they eat/drink when you're not watching. So watch the bottom of the cage for leftovers. You're acting just as anyone else who loves their new pet. I was also worried of Kiki not eating/drinking for 2 days. But then I saw some leftovers on the bottom the next day and I realized she was eating behind my back.

Kiki also stayed on one perch when I moved her to the bigger cage. She didn't know that she could move around, until she really wanted to eat. That is when she had to explore the cage for the food bowls. Amazons in this age are very clumsy and often prefer to fall rather than jump or do stupid things, until they start exploring/discovering new ways and playing around.

Just be careful so that she doesn't do anything that will harm her self. Like flying into walls/windows/doors etc etc. ;)

Good to know everything is working out so far! :)
