Hello! I didn't know this introduction forum existed before I posted elsewhere so....oops.

Nice to meet everyone! I don't have a bird yet, but I'm researching to get one in the future. Any advice and suggestions that you might have would be very appreciated! I'm here to learn as much as I can!

I was originally thinking of a conure or quaker, but my research has made me fall in love with the pionus, especially the bronze wing.
Knowing that they're often overlooked in favor of more colorful, "prettier" birds (and the fact that I was doing that myself) makes me love them even more

100% agree with you

Sadly, I imagine a lot of people choose a bird entirely because it has bright, flashy colors or because they want a bird that talks really well (especially parents getting a bird for a child).

Youtube is full of videos of conures, macaws, African Grey's, and cockatoos. You don't find information about pionus parrots nearly as easily.

Which is a shame because pionus are beautiful....

Welcome! We have two blue-headed pionuses. In my opinion, they have the best personalities of any of our birds. Our girl pionus is an absolute gem, and the boy occasionally has issues with hormonal behavior and feeling territorial about his cage, but in general he is also a curious, playful sweetheart.

I don't know where you're located, but bronze wings are incredibly difficult to find in the US.

Yeah, I've heard that.

I'm hoping to adopt, so it's not bronze wing or nothing. More like a bronze wing would be a very exciting surprise.
