Hello everybody, I hope you guys are doing wonderful! But if you don't mind, could I ask a question on Galah food? ;)

I know for a fact that Galahs LOVE seeds, especially Sun flower. But they are fatty foods and should be ONLY for special treats, so I was going to ask what are the best pellets for a galah? I have these nice, small, Roudybush pellets for my cockatiel :yellow1:, and I was thinking about using that, but an appropriate size, but is that the best brand? What do you guys use?

And yes, I do know that certain vegetables, and fruits are very important, but that should not be a problem because we have plenty of those. This is random, and not important but so I know which ones are the best, I will make a chat that shows the best foods for my birds. :D

Anyways, I don't want to keep you here too long, but thank you for your time! :)

Excuse me for the random, no important things I just threw in there, ahah! Oh, and also if you wanted to ask a few questions about myself, or wanted to tell me a few things about Galahs I would love to tell/hear from you guys!

Thanks again, Gracelyn. :)

Hi Gracelyn!

I think pellets are a personal choice for the most part, but it mostly depends on your bird's personal choice more than yours. We have a wonderful pellet sticky in the diet thread, though I'm on my phone so I can't easily link it. I'd do research on that before narrowing down what you feel would be best for your bird.

Personally, I believe in changing it up so my birds don't get bored. I'm not a "eat the same thing every day" kinda gal, and I'd imagine our birds who have such colourful tastebuds aren't either. I rotate between different things offered through Avian Organics as a company here in Canada owns them. Pellet wise though, I always go between Roudybush, Harrisons, and recently Goldn'obles as they just released a size here in Canada for smaller birds. I personally prefer Goldn'obles and Harrisons more than Roudy, but my conure loves Roudy, then Harrisons, then Golden. My IRN prefers Harrisons, then Golden, then Roudy. That being said, I generally offer all three in one bowl to them (1 tsp of each, 3 total within a day). On top of that they get a very small amount (1/4 tsp) of healthy seed from Goldenfeast, and any "fixings" that I've decided on from Avian Organics.

There's nothing wrong with fiddling around with what you offer so long as your bird is healthy and what you're offering is varied and safe/healthy for them too. IMO variety is key to a healthy and happy bird anyways!

I use Harrisons high potency fine pellets for my galah alongside nutriberries which are pellet based and useful as foraging rewards - I hide a few of them around the cage when I go out and it keeps her busy for a while. She also gets a chop mix with lots of veg.
