Penny is sick, I've been holding back making a thread

Pikachu will go back on medication i think, waiting for confirmation. Edit, for sure going on meds. He us tge only one fluffed in the house! Ugh....
Weight held 112 ( down 2 yesterday )
Still has sinus swelling by eye, but no discharge or sneezing, or redness by nostril.
He us sitting by me, and just a tiny amount fluffed......it is chilly, I just turned up heat...thanks for enlarged. He us the only one fluffed in house. He was fluffed this morning too, but I wrote of as chilly. Of course now upset . He is going back on Azithromyacin. A relapse was not unexpected with Chlamydia...but still stressful. And potentially dangerous for him. This strain seems extra nasty, suspected wild bird strain brought in by parakeet, that I rescuedabd kept since his family wasn't found( I tried, listed him, posted in neighborhood and lost pet page, probably ment to be mine to save from cat bite Pasteurella , and then chlamydia....)

Ta-dah held at 73

PENNY went up 1 to 107!! ( her normal before was 100, but I think unknown to me had chronic infection....Anyway I always thought had undeveloped pectoral from not being able to fly before me. This is fabulous to get 107! With no supplement feeding! If I go by feel she can still stand to gain some more, im guessing 110 will be her normal, we will see) Penny is stronger and better than ever before since I've had her!

This fluffed Pikachu, poor guy. His beak is warm, not always accurate but I do think has fever..

Azithromyacin has narrow dose margin, and I know he was out on the high end of dose before. Never hurts to ask questions and check tho...

I stuck him by the radiant heat,, will offer high calorie favorite foods. I pick up meds in hour or so..m

Edit: pikachu ended his treatment
10 days ago,, and showed relapse starting last Wednesday. Was in touch with avain vet right away. But we held off to see if he could rebound on his own. But he lost weight, and today was fluffed. So azithromyacin given!! Come on Pikachu get better quick! Also just gave baby bird formula. He likes it. And I don't have much powder left over from Penny. Its been open a month and I think it goes bad. The color is starting to darken. So I'm going to use it up.

Pikachu lost 2 more grams down to 110
That's 4 grams lost in 3 days. And 3.5% weight-loss.....not good...

But he is not fluffed this morning. Seems to be more active... sinus swelling the same

Edit: dang it! Left nostril feathers wet from sinus draining, same side that has periorbital swelling .

I'm so sorry you are still struggling with this Laura but we are all in this with you and rooting for you! Get well soon Pikachu!!

I didn't like how he was doing this evening, so I called vet, we decided to give another dose if azithromyacin tonight, even tho its every other day and tomorrow would be treatment..

I worry as any if us would. Its probably making health worse, as now I have to go for five IVIG treatment MG is exacerbated

Thank you Scott for following, for always writing a late night post , so I have support waiting in the morning. You've stuck with me this month snd half of having a sick flock.

Then Saxguy picks up and usually there to offer encouragement after I update.

Ohhh!! Ta-dah!! Up 2 to 75!!!! She has never been above 74 before!! Yippie!!!

Pikachu up 3 to 113!!!! Yippee!!! Sinus swelling reduced by half!!!! I feed him bsby burd formula in morning and evening for a total if 14ml
Penny up 1 to 108!! ( she stole some baby burd formula last night lo1 ),

You can see still a lot of swelling in front of eye, pink tract up to nostril. But its better

His right side has tiny tiny swelling , and both of his nostrils are inflamed. But its still a good example to show the differences in his left.

Ok I took this crap picture of nostrils, I have to pull back feathers to show quaker nostrils. They are both red add inflamed. Should be white skin around nostrils.

Infact the whole house us hormonal today...Penny and Pikachu feeding each otger.. at 108 I guess Penny might be thinking about eggs too???? I'm sure feeding this warm formula to penny abd Pikachu coukd be causing hormonal issues.

Oh no, not eggs, not hormones, on top of everything else, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Have you noticed any change in Penny or Ta-dah's vocalisations? When Lilly is actually "with egg" she makes very plaintive and repetitive peeping sounds that she never makes otherwise, even when she is scoping for nesting sites. You have much more experience around egg-laying conures than I do of course, but with HRH it's that change in vocalisations that always gives the game away. Hoping like heck there are no eggs on the horizon for your hens :smile046:

O only had eggs from Burt The Burd once, a couple of days before her DNA test came back lol ...

I have a tub of dog food and Tadah has managed to get the lid off and climb in....then che makes happy chirps. Ta-dah is 6 ir 7 never laid eggs before..
I had been giving her peanut butter to fatten her up from weight loss..so thats going to stop..
