Please help there’s a similar thread with no answers though I have a 4 month old macaw with yellow on its blue tail feathers that have become weak spots and snapping hopefully someone can please help with the photos attached

I dont think the yellow is indicative of a health issue and young macaws are known to be pretty clumsy with the new long feathers, breaking them. BUT! if you have questions about nutrition which MIGHT affect the feather color or sturdiness, best to see your Certified Avian Vet to do a blood panel for vitamin deficiencies and similar issues.

My Ekkie is a chronic feather destroyer. When his new feathers are growing in the primary wing, and tail feathers look similar to your macaws. It’s due to his chewing. The yellow in the tail feathers is probably just unique to the parrot. I myself get more concerned if their feathers look dull, and lifeless.

Have you established a vet for your macaw? Depending on where you are located you may want to work on that. Avian vets are hard to come by, and when you need one you need one. It’s nice to have one established already.
