His poop changed color?! When I brought him home, it was varying shades of green with a white top now its kinda orangy-red with a white top. Is it just because he went from a crappy seed/ pellet diet to Zupreem pellets and fresh fruits and veggies? Thanks!

It's the diet. My macaw likes to eat beets sometimes, and you should see the color of his poop after those. It doesn't take long either. You know how fast food goes through their system.

Right after I posted this thread, I read an article in Bird USA that was all about poop and came across the diet changing the color. I was scared for a bit but definitely feel better now. He's still going to the vet soon for a full check up either way.

The fruit flavored Zupreem definitely changes the color of the poop. All birds should get a vet check when you first bring them home though. And yearly after that.

yup lol feed him pomegranet :) or black cherries lol as long as colour is consistant with what his had, and he has nice big morning poops

Yep, it's just the zupreem. I was so excited when I first started seeing red poops from our birds, I knew it meant they were finally eating their pellets! lol

suebee - Puck's morning poops are HUGE! I don't know where he keeps it all, lol.

My guy's poop changes colors all the time depending on what they ate that day. It's perfectly normal.

Also, I just had to stop and comment on a thread titled "Poop" ....heehee.
