Hi Everyone,

I recently recovered my parrot after missing for almost 80hrs and it appears her beak is damaged. I am not sure if it is blood or a foreign body in her beak. She is not using the tip of her beak and it is very tender. Does a a damaged beak require anesthesia for a trim?

I'd take her to an avian vet. I can't tell for sure. Those apparent cracks look like they have blood ooze.

Looking at the photos it seems as though the red part is raised. It looks like a foreign body (like a flower) is wrapped around the beak. Can you touch it?

Didn't she go the the vet ER when she was found?
She did, but they did not catch it. I am grateful for what the ER did. When i got home after getting off the plane, then I saw it. We took her to an Avian vet today and they trimmed the crack and it looked like a towel fiber from being wrapped. Hopefully that will take care of it.

Just to give everyone an update. After a couple of tests and several vet visits my "main squeeze" is back to herself. Thank you to everyone for the well wishes and advice. Her she is back to hiding under my shirt, playing rollover, and licking the spoon from our almond butter/harrison mash cookies. Not to mention spring hormones are in full effect.
