As you may already know from a look at my previous posts I'm the owner to a very skitish Quaker parrot named Sol. Despite months of trying to bond with her, she remains terrified of every human that approaches. Yesterday, I'd left my bedroom window open so she could get some fresh air. Her cage sits right by the window, but I wasn't too worried since my window has a screen. My mom had just came home when she heard Sol freaking out, the way she does when someone's close. When my mom went to go check on her, a man was standing at the window trying to remove the screen. He startled at the sight of my mom and ran away. I don't know what would of happened if it wasn't for Sol... Poor baby got one hell of a scare. She's jumpier than usual(I mean she's always been jumpy, but she'd gotten a TINY bit better about flapping around when I change her food). I have several questions honestly. I feel as if I'm failing as a parent. I haven't been able to convince her to eat healthier food(only wants to eat seeds) and her feathers have grown out, so she can fly now!! Problem is now she's impossible to catch when I let her out to clean her cage. I end up chasing her around my room, and I end up feeling bad, because she starts hyperventilating from what I'm assuming is fear... She does chirp when called to, and when people get close she does coo, but it sounds more threatening than anything lol. She has bitten some people, but she's never bitten me. Sometimes if you sweet talk her, for some odd reason she yawns lol. She's a cutey honestly. She likes to be loud af in the mornings and loves to play with her toys. I'm just asking for advice again on how I could better her life as I do love her very, very much.
