Tail feathers

Hi! My pineapple conure, who is almost 5years old is losing his/her tail feathers. He/she is eating and pooping fine but get scared very easily. I am afraid if I took him/her to vet he will be traumatized for a long time. His behavior changed after we adopted a new bird (green cheek conure) around two and half year ago. They are friends but also fight. My green chick is little bossy. Please I really need help. Thanks

Do you keep track of molting periods? That's one answer. Some birds molt irregularly. All at once, partial or just certain areas. See if you can notice blood feathers.

Only a vet can really tell you whats going on with his tail and his health in general. Why do you think a vet visit would traumatize him? Most parrots will need to be seen by a vet at some point so you really should get him used to getting into a carrier. Put him in one for short periods everyday, gradually getting longer, finally taking a car trip together. To the vet.
