Talk me out of it!

I'm not even a fan of zons and I'd still take a mealy in a heart beat. There's one in our local shop and it's so freaking sweet! And the price is super reasonable.....oh yeah...I'm supposed to be talking you out of it. Um zons bite?

I'm with other, if you can give her the time, patience and care she needs (which I have a feeling you can. ;)) Go for it!

Sheez! You peeps are no help with talking me out of this decision at all!:52::)

I dreamt about her all last night. I was cutting up her food, talking to her, and rearranging my bird room for her cage. So what does THAT tell you? LOL!

I'm going to go see her again today.

You came to the wrong place to be talked out of a birdy LOL
It tells us you will have a new amazon soon!!!

Well??? I brought my 15 year old son with me to go see the Zon again. While I was there, my son immediately bee lined over to a little BHC sitting on one of their perches. He picked him up, flipped him up, over and all around while this little bird ate up all the attention. "Mom, can we get him? Please???" Repeatedly I told him 'no', but he was relentless.

One of the women who work at this store, came over to me and mentioned that she was planning on bringing the Amazon home to live with her; that is, unless I wanted her. Then she proceeded to tell me a little bit about this little caique. He is 6 years old and was abandoned there when his owners brought him in to board. For a month he waited for his owners to come get him before they decided it was time to put him up for sale.

So....knowing that the Amazon was going to get a great home with a bird savvy lady, my son and I left the store with this little caique who picked my boy!

Welcome Walter (Heisenberg)! Yeah, I know. My son named him after the main character from Breaking Bad. LOL!

LOL! I love how you ended up with another bird anyways!! Enjoy your new fid.

Yea you sacrificed yourself for your son's bird. Otherwise you would of ended up with two coming home with you cause he wouldn't see it that way if you get the Amazon while he begged for the Caique....lol.....At least the Amazon is going to a knowledgeable home. :)

You are gonna love you new fid...my juno is an absolute dream so far. ..

Your son (and everyone else) will get a whole lot of laughs with Walter - guaranteed!!! Many congrats on your BHC. :D

Yes, I would have come home with two, had it not been for the conversation I'd had with this lady. It gave me peace, knowing the Zon will be well cared for.

While I was there, a college kid brought in his CAG and left him there, saying that he couldn't bring him to live with him on campus. The poor thing was so distraught. There are way too many stories of people abandoning their fids. Makes me very sad.

At least we've given another abandoned, but deserving baby a good home.

congrats!!....funny how you went in for one bird and came out with another....guess it was meant to be.

caiques are beautiful, and funny.

Awww!!!! I can't wait to see pictures of Walter!! :D

It's good to know the zon is going to be well-cared for but it's sad people abandon their fids like that :(

Thanks everyone. I just posted some pics of Walter under Caiques.

Walter picked my son. I think we all know how that one works. LOl!

Yes, he starts out as your son's bird and then becomes your bird ;-)

I always go into the bird room whenever I am buying bird food at our local store to see what they have. Well... this blue crowned Amazon immediately caught my attention. I began talking to her, and she proceeded to chatter nonsensical stuff right back. I was able to give her scritches and everything!

I asked the store owner what her story was. She's 28 years old, and had been left outside the store after hours with a note attached to her cage, saying that her elderly owner had cancer and could no longer care for her.

The store is asking $500 for her.

I already have 6 birds...should I, or shouldn't I???

As long as you don't exceed the limit of 12, Go For It. LOL:rainbow1:

I thought I'd upload pictures of the Blue Crowned Amazon I was looking at. Isn't she a beauty?

My first thought is she really needs a bath! She is in good shape otherwise! But her feather condition would glow with a nice long soaking.
