Training perches

I have been working with Yukon (cockatiel), on a training perch. This training perch is for cockatiels. I have been working with him on spin. When I start was 3 weeks old when he was 3months old. When he first started balance was the main problem. I went slow to give him time. I have continued to work with him, bit by bit he was doing good. Then today I thought I would go to a medium perch. I had him spin on the medium perch. He was making great spins. By given him the bigger perch gave him more balance. Here are the perches side by side.
This is just a side note.
By giving your parrot a large perch as their resting perch just may help with night frights .
I believe some of night flights is just that they loose their balance. And fall.

Does he like it? I've seen them in stores and online. Unfortunately they're not recommended for parrots larger than your Yukon.

Like it lol. He can't wait to get on it. I target him up one end down to the other. I have him spinning twice at a time. As so as I start to move him towards the perch he jumps right on.

When I bought my training perches was from a gentleman called the Parrot Wizard he has a website. The perch itself can come off and you can put a bigger perch on for a macaw.
I bought them about 7yrs ago.

Perches in general that most folks use are too small in diameter. And too regular in diameter. Best are ones that change diameter along the length.
