I let Holly out of the cage 2 or three times a day she climbs on top of her cage to wander around, enjoy treats and of course attempt to eat the mini blinds. I keep her busy with a set of brightly colored childs sippy cups and a set of plastic balls. I keep hoping she'll learn to stack the cups. For now she picks them up and tosses them aside to watch me retrieve them. She has me trained.

What I am wondering is should I invest in one of the parrot play gyms such as:
Prevue Pet Portable Play Ground at Drs. Foster & Smith: Big Steps Playstand for medium birds

Or do you think it would be a waste of money when she's already content and stays busy enough?

Cluck - Timneh African Grey.

Just Deceased - Abbie - Green Cheek Conure
Hi - I purchased a play stand for my birds just in order to keep them with me while I was in another room in the house. My birds live in the living room, but their playstand is in the office. My little conure loved it, but my african grey, she justs sits. However, I do think she likes being closer to us wherever we are. The stand that I have has wheels on it so I can roll it from room to room. I find that helpful.

i am the mom of three parrots:
Dorothy- African grey (cag)
Bowie- blue and gold macaw
Nellie- hyacinth macaw
Reggie- hyacinth macaw
Marnie- white bellied caique
I think it is a great idea to get a playstand as Abbie baby just said it is great to bring the bird to the room we are in. I got Kiwi a big standing one, so far she just sits, unless I put her on the ladder and she has to climb it. My girl is a perch potato! However I think it is great to let them be where we are.

We are on day four with nuggie and while she's still nervous and doesnt do much on her playstand she seems to prefer to be in the same room with us and does not try to get off her playstand and will sit there for hours.

I purchased one for my lil Rio, she is very happy and content on the top of her cage (has a 'playstand' of sort up there) but boy howdy does she throw a fit if Im in the kitchen and she is not with me! LOL sooo, her playstand goes in the garden window above the sink while Im loading the dishwaher etc. Also I love it for in the office and out on the patio table when Im having my morning cup of coffee, she gets to enjoy the sunshine with me. I also like it to give her somewhere new to be other than on top of her cage. I have seen the more expensive ones that have a 'cart' of sorts that you can wheel around but my $20 one works just perfect for us, and if I do need a 'stand' for it I just get out a TV tray that we have and it fits perfect on that and its all portable.
I think its all up to you and what you think will work best for your lil fid!
:D

I bought this same playstand a long time ago from FS and it kept falling apart. The glue did not hold. When you glue the stepping perches use a good glue not the one in the package.

Hello MominNC, go to forums and go to DIY and click thread playstand done Mango approves. Mango is my 8 month old female Alex and I just made this for her, cost me about $30. I love it and so does she. It was SOOOOO easy.
