Hi everyone
I have a canary who has 2 lumps; 1 on each cheek. Sometimes they are quite small; other times they get big and this can fluctuate. He continues to eat and drink well.
I word, if course, usually go straight to a vet but I'm reluctant to do this as he is a very old boy (11) and I fear any treatment (or possibly even the trip to the vets itself) would be way to stressful for him.
Ideally, I'd like any help/suggestions of what the lumps might be and if there is any way I can make him as comfortable as possible.
I have one other bird (a budgie in a separate cage) and I'm also concerned about whether it may be contagious. I have attached a picture..sorry its not the best but I hope it can give some idea of what I'm talking about. Thanks so much everyone.
Hayley

This seems like a pretty serious issue, if you feel he’s not able to physically go to an Avian vet, you could call and ask them to see which ones will do a virtual consultation.
I’m gonna speculate he has some kind of air sac problem?
Sorry your going through this!

Thanks for your reply. Sadly, where I live, it's difficult to find vets that specialise in birds. Usually, I have to tell them what's wrong. I've tried before to ask over the phone for something to help but they wouldn't prescribe anything unless I took Parsley to them. I just don't want to put him through all that. I'm going to see if I can buy some meds for him myself. Just don't know if I'll be able to or not.

I don’t think ivermectin will help, as far as I know, ivermectin treats parasites.
