For pellets, he gets Harrisons Fine. He also gets chop, mash, birdie bread, fresh fruits/vegetables, bountiful harvest, herb salad, nutriberries, hemp seed, sesame seed, almond slivers, etc. :)

Harrison's pellets with safflower seeds as treats. Occasional dried fruits, too. Doesn't care for herb salad. And whatever fresh/cooked foods I can get Charlie to eat! He is so picky!

Pepsi and sprite, both are American male budgies
When I get my sun conure I plan on giving him either Lafeber's or Harrison's , seed is very bad for birds as a main meal. I'll also give him the something I do or my budgies, every day is a different fruit or veggie, like strawberrie Saturday , then broccoli Sunday and so on

Seed is a requirement for budgies.... they shouldn't be eating more than 50% of their diet as pellets.

i thought u should feed birds pellets instead of seeds

Anything conure sized and up should eat pellets as a base diet unless the owner knows how to feed a *healthy* fresh foods diet... in which case, pellets can be a small part of the diet.

Cockatiels, budgies, parrotlets and some other small species *should not* eat more than 25-50% of their diet in pellets. Doing so can lead to kidney disease/failure. These small birds eat predominately (young and mature ) seeds in the wild. However, if the owner knows how to feed a healthy, fresh food diet, pellets can be kept to a minimum - as well as seeds.

Point is, small birds do not do well on a high pelleted diet for an extended period of time... And that period of time can be 5-10 years. Pellets can be just as bad, if not worse, for small species birds.

It concerns me to see an owner of a small species feeding their birds a predominantly pelleted diet, especially if that diet is a high protein diet.

My conures are on the same diet, I heard there is a huge recall with Zupreen and peanuts? I love Harrison's and my birds LOVE the bird bread, even my Starling.
