Convincing parents to let me have a bird/parrot!

You seem like you are very committed to the idea. Good for you. Have you considered that you have only just begun to live, to exercise your independence and you want to embark on a relationship with a macaw that could very well last your entire life? An eclectus could take you into your 50s. Are you ready for that type of commitment? You will go off to university, have children, and an adult life and this bird will always be your companion, your responsibility. I always wanted a parrot, too, but I could never have taken that responsibility until now.
