COVID-19 Virus

Re: Wuhan virus

There are very powerful people/groups that strongly believe in a ‘For the better good’ approach! This is part of the deliberate diversions taking place in the USA!
Unfortunately, a culling of the world population is part of the agenda!
Also, remember, in a crisis, folks are much more willing to give up their rights/ freedoms!

That point has been floating around my head for days now. The targeted starting 'area,' the targeted death of the Doctor who spotted it in that area... The rapid construction of two hospitals in 'days' of its breaking out of the starting area...

It is a very difficult thing to get one's head around, but a socialist communist country that has little value regarding its excess population; why not test a weaponized virus in a tiny targeted area!!! But, as always happens, they overplay and underestimate and things go very wrong, very quickly!

Our Government first believed that they could define and set in place a counter measure within weeks. Today, they are talking months... That is a 'Concern' change from a simple Virus to the reality of being faced with something that is likely Weaponized!!!

Hence reason why I suspected early on they are bio-engineering new strains of the flu for use as a bio-weapon? It is usually how they go about it. The deadly Wuhan Coronavirus, dubbed “2019-nCoV” by the World Health Organization (WHO), is spreading farther and faster than the SARS virus (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). Plus the pathogens are the same – both are corona viruses – but something has changed with the Wuhan variant that has allowed the rate of transmission to increase significantly over SARS?

This new virus COVID targets men at higher rate, how is that possible? Has anyone heard that about any other diseases?

The fact that science can't nail down the original source ( animal species) or if and what other species it's combined with. Science has been able to rapidly identify orgins in the past when new viruses emerge.

That the infection route is still not known. As people who are not coughing and sneezing are spreading the virus. It must be highly aerosolized. ( Like measles!!!!). It has now been reported to live on surfaces for around 9 days.

This virus isn't detectable in people who are shedding and infecting other people, for weeks. Exactly vwhat you would want in a weaponized virus, to ensure maximum dispersal.

I lean more to escaped a lab, than population controls by China.

This cought my attention, when the news reported 100 CDC were sent to an airport to check incoming flight from China. At that time only ten cases and no death was reported!!! So USA knew more than was letting on. The speed with which we closed our boarders, and implementation of quarantine on large scale the likes of which haven't been seen since smallpox! All while saying this is just like seasonal influenza don't worry.

" This is really a global problem that’s not going to go away in a week or two.

What makes this one perhaps harder to control than SARS is that it may be possible to transmit before you are sick.

I think we should be prepared for the equivalent of a very, very bad flu season, or maybe the worst-ever flu season in modern times."

Also Charmedbyekkie,
Thank you for your post. I have been singing Singapore's praise throughout this thread. Your country has been the most transperant and forthcoming of any so far.
The USA allows are individual states teright to disclose cases or not to the public.... We've only recently been giving this outbreak any news time.

Stay safe!

This is the best site I've found! Reports USA cases before our news reports them.

Re: Wuhan virus

I've learned that to be a person under investigation on the CDC list, you have to have Coronavirus symptom's and have direct contact with a known case, or recently traveled from ,though China.

CDC has positive, negative, and pending on the site. The pending for over two weeks has never dropped below 60...

Now they are going to screen flu like cases in five major cities for the coronavirus.

That's great news on at least a couple of fronts!
- They now have ample supply of test kits to start this type of testing, and
- They are becoming more proactive...

Re: Wuhan virus

Just an FYI, I've been traveling through Manchester to Dulles to San Diego for the last month or so (24 airport stopovers) and the number of people wearing masks is as minimal as I've ever seen it and virtually nobody is coughing on the planes (except me ;)) There seems to be no indication that even the normal flu is at all an issue.

We have had a big flu season here, even our news reporters were sick.

Re: Wuhan virus

Here's hoping it all comes back negative. My husband was saying he saw something predicting an uptick of cases (person to person) in the US in the next 2-4 weeks a few days ago. We are aiming to be set up so we can just hole up on the farm and wait it out by then... like a week and a half is our self-imposed deadline. Not that we WILL be holing up at that point, but that we could at a moment's notice just stop going out.

Today's schedule is post office, feed store, maybe a trip to the 7000 person city to use wifi to update my ebay app in some store's parking lot. We want to order another laptop and take it to a wifi parking lot to download some games we have on Steam. Figure why not. Games and mental health will be very important if things start to look grim.

We have been dealing with human trespassers and four legged predators again(also hawks.) We are going to no longer free range our animals for the time being. Already locked up all waterfowl and most turkeys, but still need to hawk and chicken proof their area. We are going to do a coop and covered run for most poultry. Let them out to forage under supervision, maybe do some chicken tractors. In addition to this we are going to finally put a perimeter fence around our clearing. Hubbs is in charge of security and is having fun with thinking it all through. If I understand his plans, the clearing will be fenced with woven wire mostly, with gates for access, supplemented with barb wire, razor wire, electric wire in places close to the equine pasture. He also wants to do about 8 security cameras, 2 driveway sensors, and something about pallisades? I'm not really sure what he is picturing, LOL. We have also talked about certain plants in parts to act as visual or physical barriers(thornbushes like firethorn or raspberry, as well as bamboo and things like that).

One of the lovely human beings living in the trailer park just lets his "expensive coondogs" run we are vonvinced. He has gps collars on them and we KNOW he knows they are killing our birds. Took our favorite turkey not long ago, and SOMETHING attacked our barn cats last night. Thankfully hubbs was walking a dog at the time so fired off a shot and both cats seemed scared but OK. Turkey Bird is still ok, she has been sitting on eggs in the barn, but they took my stalker bird, Dandy! She was a royal palm hen who was obsessed with me! Would follow me around outside, RUNNING to keep up with me, would peer in the house windows at me if I was inside... funny girl. RIP. These dogs gotta go. We are going to try and snag them and take them to a shelter a ways away as "strays" after removing and disposing of the gps collars. Maybe not, IDK. But we need to figure this out. We can't have them taking our birds and possibly attacking our cats. Plus their owner showed up in the middle of the night to go look for them and we had to "convince" him to go around our clearing. He left then came back a bit later with a buddy. He was armed with a rifle both times. He did end up catching the dogs but we will not be allowing him bavk again. Even if he goes around our clearing, he will not be allowed on our land. Course, the dogs won't be an issue much longer either.

Re: Wuhan virus

We used cheap electric fencing to fix this on our land, fixed the stray dogs, people and coyotes.

Too late to shut the barn door now

An elderly American stuck on a cruise ship that was repeatedly refused port amid coronavirus fears was diagnosed with the illness after she and her fellow passengers were deemed healthy and allowed to head home.

The 83-year-old woman, one of more than 2,200 people stuck for weeks aboard the MS Westerdam before they were allowed to disembark Friday in Cambodia, made it to Malaysia before the illness was discovered, Bloomberg reported.

The unidentified woman was said to be in stable condition in isolation at a hospital. Her husband, 85, tested negative but was put under observation.

Re: Wuhan virus

Oh boy. That's bad news.

I may be making progress with my mom. She is at least getting supplies, but with luck we will be able to talk her into riding the storm out here with us.

I will talk to hubbs about getting another fence energizer or two and incorporating lots of juice in the perimeter line. We gotta stop these dogs! We were just out doing Butters' feet and eyeing out where to extend the pasture and some soggy areas to block access from. Also thinking about what sort of shelter to put in: if we want to do a larger run-in, or build a small barn. Lots to do, lots to do...

Re: Wuhan virus

My mom is listening now too.
The BBC has some contacts in Wuhan, they ran a piece on some families affected. Abd the news was grim, they had all lost faimly members that weren't counted, the lack of transportation available to get to the few hospitals that had tests, of a father dying in a chair in the hallwsy because no beds were available. Of family not being able to be with loved ones as they passed. Of seeing many bodies.. I feel the BBC is a pretty stand up news source. My heart goes out to Wuhan. I hope we never have to see anything like that here.

Re: Wuhan virus

Do you have a link to that? My mom & in laws may take that more seriously.

Re: Wuhan virus

Thank you. I sent them both to my brother and mother and asked them please to read both articles. Very sad and grim articles. Dark times indeed.

Re: Wuhan virus

More press as the cover up in deaths and severity gains traction. The lag time in weeks before symptoms appear, and then taking week or longer to develop sever symptom ( if you do) makes to understand the impact and seriousness of this new virus difficult. But my heart breaks for the millions of people under their third week of lockdown, how this all must be effecting mind , body, and heart.
From Fox news.
https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/lew...heres-how-china-is-making-the-situation-worse

"In order for China's ruling Communist Party to have responded to COVID-19 this drastically, the death toll would first have had to exceed local officials’ capacity to cover it up, and then also convinced the nation’s top officials that it represents an existential threat."

"The severity of the Chinese government’s actual response to COVID-19 is a more reliable indicator than the disease’s publicly acknowledged tally. While admitting to just 17 deaths from the virus, the party quarantined a region of about 60 million people. This decision guaranteed multibillion-dollar economic losses."

Re: Wuhan virus

Here's how Singapore is currently handling cases that have identical symptoms but are unlikely to be COVID-19: https://www.mothership.sg/2020/02/ncid-experience-suspected-covid-19/

Just need to vent about work and managing COVID-19:

My upper management suddenly changed last week, and the new management is completely out of touch with what is going on the ground (or with other companies for that matter).

We literally had an email from them, when our previous management prompted them for contingency plans, and the upper management said to just buy hand sanitiser.... Nothing about the fact that our clients can only do video calls, that practically all other companies (including our clients) are working in shifts (home shift, office shift) or completely working remote from home, that a significant part of our work involves talking one-on-one with strangers on a regular basis....

During the management change meeting, one of the upper management instructed us to wash our hands frequently, then proceeded to cough directly into their hands.... No other measures to be taken. Nevermind that all other places have increased their cleaning - cleaners in some places are working 16 hour shifts in Singapore now.

The scary part is that all our overseas work was postponed or switched to remote alternatives. And because Indonesia has not reported a single case (because they don't have any system in place), new management wants to start sending us for all the Indonesia work since local work is looking like it might be postponed. None of us want to go. We've all agreed it is unsafe to go to a country in this region that is not even showing a semblance of participating in reporting their numbers and safety measures.

The new management made a comment about their employees in China who are now remote working, saying that they like this because their employees' productivity has increased even though "life isn't fun there". *cue crickets*

I've been running around the office with F10, spraying in between our interviewees. When I thought I might have been exposed to a case (long story, but I didn't have any symptoms), I was conducting interviews with a face mask on (smh). I doubt management understands that doctors are now giving 5 days of MC (doctor mandated sick leave) instead of the typical 1 day, and no doubt management will be deducting from our sick leave even though the government says to stay home if you have a smallest hint of any symptom.

Re: Wuhan virus

I'm worrying for you. How scary to maybe be exposed!!!! I pray you are safe, and do not get this.

You vent all you want! Ugh management...do what you need to stay safe, listen to your own smarts.
I cringe everytime I see new cases posted in your country.

Re: Wuhan virus

I'm assuming the new management team is a result of the sale of the organization and the normal changes driven by that reality. The sad reality is that the new group are commonly tasked with obtained, by enhancing the profitability of the purchased group, the money to pay for the purchase. Add the reality of a health crisis in your country and the (non) logical choice would be to target a near by country that is not reporting a health crisis.

At some point, one and likely more members of the new 'team' will become ill and fear will run wild in their ranks. The 'how' is that upper management will order them to show that there is nothing to be fearful of...

Be safe, as stated above stay true to your vantage point and maintain your good health status....

Re: Wuhan virus

Wow charmed talk about a classic case of management having their heads wedged right up their collective fundamental orifices! Productivity at all costs?! I’m all too familiar with the type unfortunately. I hope you’re able to stay safe up there!
