First Post, First bird!

Welcome! Those are great pictures! Thanks for sharing!

Your chameleon is CUTE!!! Do you have brown diatom going in your tank? Is it rather new? I see you have a pair of Black Ocellaris Clowns, Fire Fish, Coral Banded Shrimp, Blue & Red Mushrooms, Kenya Tree, Green Frogspawn, and Green Duncan. Did I miss anything?? Is that a small clam on the sand bed???

Thanks! my cham is almost 2 years old now and just the sweetest little guy. My tank is about 4 months old now so kinda new still, the algae has actually cleared up in the last week and is looking amazing, I just don't have a recent photo lol My two shrimp are skunk cleaners, but close! I also have a small favia coral in there by the Kenya tree, and the frogspawn is bicolor and it's my favorite :) I also have added colored trumpet coral and dragon eye zoanthids :) it is a maxima clam, but I'm not sure how well it is doing at the moment...I hope it's just me being paranoid lol I also have a starry blennie in there that is shy and there are a pair of fire fish that sleep together when the lights go out :)

Beautiful pictures, Ashleigh, thank you so much for sharing. Loki is SPECTACULAR!!!! :32: Is it difficult to care for him?

And I LOVE Ali, Wheatens are such underrated, fantastic dogs!!

Sweet fishtank! Can't say I miss mine....WAY too much work and WAY too expensive to upkeep. (I was running a 220 gallon SPS tank)

And as for Maui/Kiwi/Pickles: AAAAWWWWW!!!!! What a sweetheart!!! :D

Thanks!! Loki was hard to care for as a baby but maybe because he's my first, he needed to eat ALOT to grow so he's less expensive now. I just got him used to handling since he was a baby and now he is super easy to handle. Humidity is a big deal with these guys so I got an automatic mister and the background on his cage help with that too. Ali is a great dog! She is learning to be appropriate around the bird right now, but she's learning pretty fast :) Yea, my husband has a 120 gallon saltwater and he's been doing it for 10 years now so he helps with a lot of my questions that I have about it. Mine is only 38 gallons and it's easy for me to change the water and any other care it may need, but if it was huge like my husband's tank idk how I would take care of it lol I love my little bird! I wish I could figure out a name, but we've only had him a few days so I'm sure we will eventually figure it out :09:

I did saltwater for 7 years and been out of it for two years. I used to have all kinds of zoanthids. I miss them.....

My son is so jealous, as he has been begging for a chameleon for awhile. As he already has a red eared slider turtle and 2 sugar gliders in his room, I keep telling him he has to wait. Maybe for his birthday this October I will shock him with one, that or a trampoline.

Oh wow! He sounds like me keeping a zoo! lol It's a lot of work and expense at first, but it's really fun! I love my little guy :) Chameleonforums.com has a lot of info and experts on there if you were interested in looking up care for one

Wendy,

I can imagine with all the salt and chemicals you were going through doing SPS. I'm more of a LPS and Zoanthids type of guy. :)

I feel the same way! I love LPS, but I would eventually like to get one or two SPS when my tank is more mature

In 7 years my Candy Cane got HUGE, it was so big that when I moved it, it broke off into multiple pieces that I give away. It was as big as a volley ball. Same with my bubble coral. I had so much of some of the corals I was cutting them up giving them away for free...lol....

I can definitely see my bicolor frogspawn getting huge, it's already gotten bigger in the few months that I've had it...my husband wants some when it's big enough :P oh, and my clam died today....I knew something was wrong!!! I have NO IDEA what happened...it looked fine two days ago then all of the sudden it was dead! so sad :( It's the only thing I've lost though so far...

Yes the clam is a pain to upkeep! Have you been feeding him??? They need well established tank and pristine water levels to survive, plus strong lighting system! When I used to feed my clams I shut off the sump and all the pumps then I feed phyto plankton and other stuffs. My partner told me tonight I'll be getting a Nano tank for Christmas for sure....yay!!!! I gotta look up my reef account again cause I need to get some equipment stocked such as refractometer, I give mine away...ugh....I had a good one too, Milwaukee one.....I still have my expensive PH meter that I can hook up. I still have Aragonite sand stored in my basement...I need to sell my two other protein skimmers as I would no longer need them. I keep all my pumps though just in case as I have Mag 5, 7, and 12. I give away my vortech...

I was spot feeding and I have a kessil light so I thought it would be enough. My water is awesome so I know it wasn't that...idk, but it sucks losing one! I'm excited for your new nano! You'll have to post pics when it gets going :)

Welcome to the forum! Your baby is beautiful! I have a cinnamon green cheeked conure as well, they look so much alike. They are very special! Welcome!

Those kessil LED is rather new, I don't think they are strong enough to keep clams alive. You'd be better off doing 150w metal halide. I know my local fish store, I know the owner for a long time, they took off most of their LED lighting cause they said they were a pain to upkeep and constant issues. So they removed them and went back to T-5's and metal halides. I will post pictures of the Nano tank once I get it for Christmas. :)

Good thing I kept everything in stock so I have the aragonite sand and some dried rock. I just need a cup of the store tank's live sand to seed mine and a few live rocks to seed my dried rock. I'm staying with Nano cause I won't be upgrading this time around. Way too much work and very expensive upkeep.

wow i love your zoo, your so lucky , kiwi is an awesome name ( im new zealander, we call ourselves kiwi's) and it will be an easy name for him / to learn .

Oh my gosh! You have the most amazing pets! I love the chameleons colors, so pretty!, I love fish and how the tanks look! Your dog is so cute and fluffy! The lil birdy is so cute! I love cinnamon green cheek conures! Thankyou for sharing pics of the pets! Oh and the pic with the bird peeking out of her hair is so cute!

Ok I'm done :D
