Geraniol?

I searched the forum and came up nada. Google is kinda vague...
This is geranium oil (not sure the process) made into a mosquito repellent. I am thinking of getting this for my patio but I am worried about toxicity. We like to have bird outside with us (in her small cage) but mosquitoes are a concern. And so are things that repel mosquitoes.
The typical mosquito mister system use another botanically based oil that is "safe" unless you are a bee, butterfly, etc. (not my idea of "safe" btw!).
Anyone have knowledge of geraniol? (It is the active ingredient in the Terminix All Clear lantern)...or alternatives?
We are planning to screen in our patio sometime after Memorial Day when we have time and funds.

I would not buy any chemical compounds used commercially. But logic is solid... instead purchasing geranium essential oil and lemongrass or lavender oil, or any combo of oils. They are extremely effective for bug repellent. I mix up 4 different oils to make a natural flyspray for Chip (horse). Much healthier then any of the products you can buy.

Since you are dealing with outside, you can also use the entire plant! Marigolds, flowering thyme, citronella grass and lavender are excellent to plant around a patio to help repel bug and mosquitoes.

Just do your cross reading if you are going to let you birds on the patio outside of the cage. I have not checked if any/all are safe for birds to eat or shred, so do that research too!

I have tried plants without luck, maybe that means this will not work anyway. We do keep her in her cage outside, b/c she will fly away if she gets spooked. At present, it looks like we need to put a mosquito net over her. They are already thick. The Asian tiger mosquito is the problem here--they are very hardy, tiny, and active all day. I love most creatures on this planet but the mosquito can go extinct please.
