Housing Parakeet and Cockatiel Together

I have been watching a lot of videos on youtube. A lady with many videos on parakeets, has one where she puts a parakeet in with a cockatiel. She said they make good cage mates. She claims even though parakeet is smaller it is usually the dominant bird.What are you views on mixing birds ? Any other birds that would be good cage mate for parakeets?

My tiel and budgies get along well during the day even in the same cage but at night they go to sleep in their own cage.

The only time I didn't sepetate them fast enough my budgie got a very badly cracked beak when my tiel bit him.

It healed fine but it could have been a disaster.

It is really important to keep them separated. A serious injury or death is just never worth it. Please give each bird its own cage.

My budgies and my cockatiel play together outside their cages and my cockatiel likes to visit the open budgie cage, they've never hurt each other but they are all fully flighted and they've never been in a closed cage together.

I would think another budgie or budgies would be a good choice if you want them to share a cage. You could get an English budgie.

LOL no don't want a cockatiel, have my hands full with parakeet. For some reason i thought it a big no on mixing birds, I just wanted feed back from more knowable people. Always trying to learn.

My sister has a cockatiel and budgie in one cage together. They love each other, they actually vomit in each others mouths. The budgie seems to be the dominant one. I think they need a bigger cage then what they have, but oh well.
