I have a minor dilemma...

I have two choices when it comes to Parrot Play Areas. I can make my own for a fraction of the cost it is to build it, but I annoy my neighbours while building it (I'm in an apartment) out of PVC or I buy one off Wayfair/Amazon and have something that can last a long time. I'm honestly torn between the two. I like that the PVC one is adjustable, but it will require creativity to build. The other is more standard, but a lot of people seem to like.

What would you folks do in my situation?

Isn't there a time of day when your closest neighbors aren't home so you can make noise? Maybe if you told them in advance that you would be making noise for a couple of hours during the day while building it they would be okay.

You could get a pair of the pliers style pvc cutters. Inexpensive and very quiet. They work fine as long as the pipe hasn't been exposed to too much uv light and has become brittle.. Seems that the only real noise would be from cutting it and this should eliminate that. I have noticed that some big box stores keep their excess pvc outdoors. try to avoid this when using the pliers cutters.
Also when gluing it do that outside because of the fumes
At this time all of my stand perches are pvc with vet wrap as it is cheap and easy. Even with the increase in pvc cost.

I agree with above. I made a PVC play area like that. The cutter works like scissors. So no sound. To increase stability mine was like a ladder in principle. I had more rungs. I didn't use any glue. I made sure pipes were tight. I had to check frequently but that was done with cleaning.

THANK YOU for the ideas, everybirdy! I only ever made one perch and that was 20 some years ago. Ended up donating it to my parrot club raffle because my guys were afraid of it and never used it.

PVC stand it is!
