I lost maggie tonight!!

Eeek! Biting nails! Glad I don't have feathers or I'd be plucking them while I wait. Fingers crossed, prayers said. Thanks for update, Wendy. I hit the "thanks" button three times but it only logged it once. :)

UPDATE: Mark just called me. He has a solid lead on Maggie! She was spotted 1 mile from home, in someone's tree! She was there for 2 hours! Mark is currently on his way to set up Maggie's playstand there along with food and water.

She did fly from the tree again, but Mark knows the vicinity she is in. It is dark now, so she is probably roosting.

Continued prayers that they will be reunited ASAP!

I am beyond thrilled about this lead!!

This is GREAT news! The BEST! Thanks so much for the update, Wendy! Like so many of us, I think I check every few hours to see if there has been any news. Continuing to pray for Maggie's safe return.

Awesome!! Will pray they are reunited soon!!

Not quite, but we do have some very solid leads thanks to that petfinder phone call deal.

I think I missed finding her by about two hours, but we know the general vicinity she is in.

Wendy didn't quite understand the message. She's LESS THAN ONE MILE FROM THE PARK I NORMALLY FREE FLY HER AT. She had flown about four miles from the place where I lost her. She is CLOSE TO LANDMARKS THAT WILL BE FAMILIAR TO HER. She's now about two miles from home... and we're pretty sure she's in this area.

IT SURE SEEMS LIKE SHE'S TRYING TO FIND HOME! SHE'S GOING THE RIGHT WAY!!! PRETTY AMAZING REALLY, BUT i GUESS IT'S HER INSTINCT.

Someone had a fuzzy picture of a big red bird in a tree in their back yard. I couldn't really tell, but I'm betting it's Maggie. I set up her playstand with food and water in his yard in case she comes back...

Don't stop looking yet, but I'm going back to that neighborhood at first light.

SARAH HAS FRIENDS SHE WENT TO SCHOOL WITH THAT LIVE IN THAT NEIGHBORHOOD, SO SHE'S CALLING AND TEXTING THEM NOW. MORE EYES!!!

This is the best lead I've had yet!

EVERYONE KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED!!! I THINK WE'RE CLOSE...

just a thought, how often do you go to this pond and is it possible maggie is trying to find her way home instead of staying in the immediate area? If so, have you scouted along the most likely path she might take back to your house? I know you have smart birds and perhaps she picked up on the route you take to and from the pond and is trying to take that back?

that is exactly what she appears to be doing. She's made it more than half way home, and she is getting very close to familiar landmarks. If she see's that, she can and will find home... BUT HERE'S THE INTRIGUING PART. SHE HAS NEVER BEEN TO THAT PARTICULAR DUCK POND PARK BEFORE... BUT SHE IS NOW ABOUT A MILE AWAY FROM THE DUCK POND PARK I USUALLY FLY HER AT, AND SHE HAD TO TRAVEL FOUR MILES TO GET THERE, AND I'M GUESSING IT WASN'T IN A STRAIGHT LINE...

SO HOW COULD SHE KNOW THAT?! She hasn't free flown that area before, but now she's close to the areas she usually flies... HOW COULD SHE KNOW THAT?!

Wonderful news Mark! Sounds like the call thing was a great idea. I am so glad she's been spotted and that she appears to be heading home. That's what animals do. She's a smart bird and she will make her way home one way or another (whether that is sensing a trustworthy person to go to that will return her or just going to places she knows/home). I'm also certain with the bond you have, she KNOWS you are out looking for her and doing everything in your power to get her back.

I know Tusk was gone for quite a while, and that was difficult, but he eventually made it home. I am certain Maggie will too. Hopefully much quicker than Tusk did so you are not having to worry about her.

Tusk was gone for nearly three weeks before someone found him and called me. But CAGS are less trusting of strangers, and hide better.

Maggie has been gone for 2.5 days. And I've got more solid leads with her. A greenwing is a lot easier to spot in the tree, and a greenwing is a lot more confident.

If she finds her playstand with food and water, my thought is she'll know, and she'll stay put like she's been trained...

Incidentally, we found Tusk 7 miles away. He was going the opposite direction of home.

If my information is correct, Maggie has already traveled 4 miles. She is going the right way.

Tusk doesn't free fly. Maggie does. Coincidence? I wonder...

Yeah.

If this doesn't turn out to be a lot of people BSING me... it was money well spent. If it's folks making stuff up? Then this was a wild goose chase...

But 4 to 5 people on two different blocks?!

Probably not a coincidence. I'm hopeful.

I'm so happy to hear this news, Mark! And I'm confident that I'll be happier still soon enough, when Maggie rejoins your flock! I really believe those tips were actual leads rather than people who were messing with you. Especially since 4 or 5 people all agree on a 2 block region.

Great call using that call service!

Omg... I hope this is it!!! Hopefully I ll wake up to good news tomorrow. Praying and praying for the both of you!!!

This is wonderful news Mark! I'm praying when I check first thing in the morning there will be a super happy up date that she is home safe!

So sorry for the little misunderstanding, Mark. When you called and told me you had a solid lead, I did a whole bunch of screeching. :31:

Today's gotta be the day!! HUGS!!

Im off to work, and crossing my fingers so hard for you Mark!! I can't imagine losing my baby <3 I'm so glad that Maggie has been so well trained so that she will more likely stay on her play stand if she sees it.

I hope to come home to see you found her!!

I'm so sorry you had to go through this nightmare Mark. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I'm hoping to hear the good news soon.
I wish I could help in any way I can.

Come on Maggie, there's a girl. :)

Praying praying praying! She is so smart and loves her family. Today is a new day to reunite!

Great news. Hope today is the day.

Mark how is the rest of your flock holding up ? They have to be picking up on your stress and the fact one of them is missing .
