Is my CAG moulting or plucking?

Hello,

Zelda, my CAG, just turned 1 year old in April. so I think she is currently going through her first moult.

Sometimes though I am alarmed at the number of feathers at the bottom of the cage.

Sometimes there are more, sometimes less.

Sometimes she likes to have a play and chew on a feather that has come out whilst preening.

Is this a normal amount of feather in one day during a moult. Or should I be concerned?

The bottom feather that ends in a V shape could be barbering.
I don’t think that is an excessive amount of feathers for one day.
And yes they sometimes play with and even scratch themselves with the droped feathers.

Thank you, very helpful. I will keep an eye out for barbering, but she has very few feathers like that.

I think she had a few V-shaped ones from her cage she shared in the breeders. Maybe just old scruffy feathers?

Yep...could be an old feather. As far as the number of feathers I don't believe that is excess amount. It is also molt time over here across the pond. Both my Amazon and cockatiel have lost a bunch. Being a year old, I'd think this would be a second or maybe even a third molt. How old is he/she and how long have you had her/him? Sorry...just saw she turned one in April..

I'm not sure, I've never seen so many 'real' feathers in enzos cage in a day, even in a moult. They are wing feathers rather than chest feathers though.

Also I've seen worse feathers than the bottom one, I'm not concerned with enzo so am I right to say dont be too cornered? Still the number of feathers are not sustainable
