Mishka cousin is coming to visit

that's for sure. even my family thinks i'm crazy because i treat my babies as real people. because they are on the inside. lol.

well said AB, couldn't have said it better :D my sister and my dad thinks it's annoying and that i'm going crazy when i talk to birds and give them love. lol
 
Bath day !!!!
Gave Mishka a lovely warm shower today, and blow dried her.
I had a "brave" moment and decided to let Zazo shower as well.
I believe he normally just wets himself in his cage, in winter. Freezing here 12 degrees Celsius ............ BUT they have to be clean !!!!!
I did not know how he would react, once in the bath. :rolleyes:
I placed him in the bath, with a little warm water covering his feet. I played with the water near his feet, splashing his toes. Then I introduced him to the shower nozzle. He was a little hesitant at first, then as they say, the rest was history.
Within 10 minutes, he was totally soaked, spreading his wings open, letting me spray underneath, and even his tummy, I think I heard him laugh....... honestly.
I then wrapped him in a towel, took him to the bedroom, and gently blow dried him.
He has never been near a hair dryer before, he was like a pro, letting me lift his wings, when drying him.
Zazo thought he was royalty today. :p
I think I am going to miss this little fella when he goes home ;)
 
Or he'll get back home and say, "I want to go to Auntie's...now!", "I need a shower!", and "I want a kiss from Mishka!" :D It will be interesting to see what he says and does when he goes back home; you've introduced him to some exciting new things.

Mishka is not talking like she usually does. She normally chats all day long 24/7 saying every word and sentence she has learnt. She even entertains herself, back chatting herself.
Since Zazo arrived on the scene, Mishka is extremely quiet.
She is showing Zazo, lots of love and attention all day.
She talks to him all day, saying the same things over and over.
Zazo kom hiersaw (come here, it's Afrikaans, another language) and Zazo I love you what is Zazo Zazo is a birdie where is Zazo
I think she is waiting for him to answer her back. The only response is hey
He responds to the Cd's I play for them, and makes the appropriate sounds, when he hears certain words. At on that part, I know re-playing words you are teaching them, is working.
I want MY chatterbox back, I miss OUR conversations. :(
 
I heard it said and I am sure you have too that when there is another bird with an only bird they are more into eachother and not so much into the guardian who is you. She is like a bird in the wild now wanting to interact with the other bird. Is this correct? You will get her back when he leaves.

It is true, Mishka is into Zazo, I think she is in love LoL. ;)
Mishka and I still have our quality time together, her usual routine, just as before. It's just sad not to hear her chatting away, the way she usually does. Normally, during the day, when I am in the office working, Mishka is in the lounge, we chat. I ask her lots of questions, she answers me visa versa. We sing and whistle tunes together.
Since Zazo has been here, there is total silence, for the most part of the day. :(

That is what I miss about my Mishka :grey:
 
I would miss those conversations too. Not many people can work and talk to their bird at the same time. How luck you both are.
 
As soon as Zazo leaves (hopefully Mishka takes it well) you'll have all to yourself again to chat and sing the day away.

Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed having him "visiting" us. :cool:
I have actually grown quite fond of him.
They are so alike, yet so different in many ways. :52:come to
I guess all good things come to an end.:31:
 
But with an end, there's always a new beginning, so maybe something interesting might happen some point afer Zazo. Who knows, you might get another Grey, Mishka will learn something new, etc.

No only one bird for me. ;)
My time is managed perfectly. Running my own business, my injured hand, I can only cope with so much.
