My Bourkes

Looks good, might not put the tip as far in, but that's me. Baby looks bright eyed and eager to feed so that's great!

Thank you! I sometimes try to not put the tip as far in but babies do this;)
I also asked on another forum, there they noticed one serious mistake - putting them on slippery surface:(. I didn't do this each time but since now I won't do this at all;)

Now the chicks are 4 weeks old
the oldest one:

Medium one:

and the youngest one:

Since today we're trying to teach them self-reliance. For now we put some fruit pieces but they don't wanna eat that. Only when I keep it in my hand the odest one eats a little

Still a little young at four weeks for wanting to try solid food. I'd wait until they are around five and a half weeks to start introducing it in the hopes that at around six weeks they start to try other foods and think about weaning themselves. Still I've never hand raised bourkes so I don't know when they normally leave the nest and wean.

The fledging age is 4 weeks - this is why we started doing it. Anyway we still normally hand feed them, we don't force them to eat solid food.

Gosh they are so cute at that awkward age :)

All Bourkies finished 4 weeks. Normally in this age they shouldn't have pin feathers

Ha ha ha...you have your hands full with these cuties. :). From the video we know where to set up their 'hide away playhouse' and from the pic we know which toys to use there (heaps of remotes, keyboards etc..):D:D:D. Where is HRH Princess Lilly? Is she supervising?:)

HRH Lilly Pilly, if she was there, would be running amok and creating total chaos! Count your blessings Rozalka that you do not have her to contend with!

We still try to give them some solid food - for this moment the most often they eat peach, with other foods we have a small problem:( All of them can sit on their box and sometimes fly away. Today we decided to give them a perch and feeder;)

Have you tried introducing the babies to any of your older birds? Sometimes having an older bird join in when the solid food is available helps with teaching them what it is and what to do with it. At least it did with my cockatiels.

Yes but for a moment - there in the cage are 5 Bourkes and the babie was scary of them. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't feed them and I am little scary about catching them in the cage to be able feed them:(
In another cage is one Bourke and 2 budgies but it would be too dangerous - this Bourke could pluck them:(

Rozalka, you are on the scene and know the best situation related to all your fid dynamics. Please let us know any specific concerns you have...babes are adorable as I said before...you are doing great with them.:)

About introducing them to older birds I had read before, two times we put one in the cage but they are scared of any other birds:eek: Today before I woke up, two Bourkies had flown to the kitchen where was open a window - because of that probably we will try again to introduce them (but all 3) into the cage with 5 Bourkes which aren't tame and the cage is little too small for 8 birds. At the moment we don't have any "free" cages

MrLaurieKeats thinks your little Bourkie babies are very sweet and he’d like to be their Uncle!
