Noisy Cockatiel

Is there anyway to curve a young cockatiel from loosing its mind every day? I have recently got a young w/f male cockatiel and within the past week or two it has lost its mind. It just goes off all day. I don't mind it so much but my wife (who is home all day) is. It is starting to become a thing of conflict as she wants me to get rid of him and I don't want to do that. We do let it out for most of the day, so it's not cage bound. The only thing that curves this is if he is held, but my wife isn't all about the bird life and freaks out when she gets pooped on. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I would hate to have to rehome him.

Also it's mainly just the flock calling as she is use to some noise (gcc,budgie) just not the constant noise.

They can be pretty clingy, they like the socialization and they're not as independant as other birds. My female is pretty quiet but sometimes during the day she'll cry and cry to come out.

I would suggest getting a small playstand or something so he can possibly be in the room with your wife but not "on" her. Shredding toys and toys you can hide treats in are good too.

I don't often hear of Cockatiels who are so clingy. Aquila's idea of the playstand with toys and 'things to do' on it is a good idea. See if Jake will go for that instead of being held. A light weight enough stand to be portable from one room to another would be good if he'll use it. It does sound like he needs to learn to self entertain though.

Do you know how old is the cockatiel? Can you take a video down and post it for me to see what's going on? They're not known to do that all day long.

I could make a stand with some wood dowls if that would work. I have also had a female when I was younger and she was quiet. I would have probably ended up with a girl again but she picked this guy because she pittied him.

He is 4 months old. Its a little late now but I will get a video tomorrow.
