Ona’s Thread

I'm trying to figure out what the aqua blue plastic object is on top of the cage. Some sort of feeder?

I was wondering the same thing! It certainly looks like a feeder.

She’s on a banner at the show!!! 😮 that’s my supermodel girl!!!!

Did she get hired for this job? I thought she was the Harrisons model. I guess I'm asking how do you know it's Ona?

It’s actually the same photo from her shoot over a year ago. She’s still their cover photo on Facebook as well. Know a connection who does photos for the brand and they apparently love her! They keep re using her on their materials. It’s definitely her. Wish I could get some newer photos for her.

She was in the Harrison’s newsletter earlier this year :) She does mainly eat Harrison’s. In the photo she is eating Zupreme.

I caught Miss Smarypants Ona saying Yuri's name in context! Yuri was being bratty little sister and was stepping on Ona's tail. Ona let out a grumpy screech then said "Yuri!" 😮

Since Halloween is almost here, how about a scary story:

You’re cleaning your birds cage and move toward the forbidden mom-don’t-touch-that vacuum cleaner. Ona sits nearby, carefully watching your every move. You switch the vacuum on - but wait! The sound of flapping wings, the light breeze - Ona! She’s moved! Where is she?! Is she plotting her attack? Just as you catch sight of her she’s off again, and you duck your head to shield the sensitive skin of your neck, still scabbed from last week’s bite. Will the vacuuming resume or will the vicious Ona strike?

GCCs are funny around vacuum cleaners, aren't they? My baby Baci used to throw himself in his bath for a wash EVERY SINGLE TIME I turned mine on. No idea why he did it, but it was awfully cute 💖

The next morning...all is suspiciously quiet. Ona is the picture of all that is blessed and holy. An innocent dove freshly awakens after a peaceful night of slumber. What shall the morning hold? A blissful morning of serene vacuuming and perhaps three coffees. But what is this? Bird debris is shooting out of the vacuum hose at all angles! Alas! There are holes! Mysterious hose punctures! Ona stretches peacefully. It's going to be a lovely day.

Is Ona really freaked out by vacuum cleaners?

No, she isn't. She just doesn't want us touching it. When I turn it on, she and Yuri both sing up a storm. But when we touch it.... she has added that to her list of "don't you DARE touch that!". Let's see her consistent list is:

  • Medicine bottles
  • Gatorade bottles with orange lid
  • Chapsticks
  • Vaccum
  • Scrubby dish brush
Mom touching any of those = 80% bite chance.

My budgies seem to just want everything I touch. They try to steal pills when I open a medicine bottle and climb into bo Nothing upsets or bothers them. Today I was vacuuming on the adjacent porch where Tiki, Baja, and Big Fluffy live and free fly all day. When I was almost finished vacuuming around their cage I looked under it and there was Fluffy, perched on the metal grate under the cage, 8 inches off the floor! He wasnt fazed by the close proximity of the big upright vacuum cleaner! Just sitting there watching me.
My birds just aren't normal, thats for sure.

Life has been hard lately and I’ve been a bit MIA. But, this morning Ona said “I love you” and “thank you so much” after I gave her a blueberry.
