Does anyone have one of those snuggle tent things for their conure?
I got one for Rico but 1) I am not sure how to place it in cage and 2) he doesnt seem that interested in it....
He tends to stay off the bottom of his cage prefering to stay on the perches....

Mine hangs from the ceiling at the back corner of the cage. Jasmine climbs into it around 9pm and goes to sleep :)

Is it like the Happy Hut? If it is, mine is hanging from the top of the cage with a perch in front of it so it' easy to get to.

My Lovebirds and Weiro's all have happy huts hanging from the top of the cages. They all sleep in them in winter, its starting to warm up now so they tend to squeeze on top of them instead of in them... LOL..

My Ecky had one when he was young and it took him a long time to actually use it, but he did sleep in it on a night until he got his nail stuck in it and i removed it from the cage.

Yes....its the Happy Hut...I forgot the name:)
Rico tends to go to top corner of his cage to sleep so maybe I should test it there

What doubles as a toy, fits a lot of bird sizes and is like a tent that I've seen another member use is those baby toys with the plush on top and mini blanket connected to it so they snuggle in it's warmth and can be hung any where or they can just chew it up.either way it's fun for the bird.

I have one for my Green Cheek and she loves it. I agree with the above, hang it from the top of the cage near the "sleep corner" and make sure there's a perch so it's easy to get in to.

You need to hang it from the ceiling! It's like the bedroom in the cage for conures, a place to feel safe and warm.

Mine loves the hut I made for her! It did take a week or two before I caught her sleeping in it though! Now it's her safe place. c:

I worry about that too, but it's a chance. If you check it every day for stray strings then you are good. This not reccomended for chewers.

From the folks at birdtricks.com, this was just posted today via their facebook page. It's worth a read.

Dangerous parrot accessories

On another note, I have a medium size hidensleeps http://hidensleeps.com/ which my two Green Cheek Conures share! I've tried the others and would say this is the safest on the market and you can buy replacement parts. I've had it about a year and not one loose thread.

FYI, their site is not very browser friendly but I vouch for their product. You have to call to order from them but you can also purchase it here. http://www.mybirdstore.com/BIRD_HUTS_TENTS_NESTS-Sunrise_Solutions_Hide_N_Sleep_Birdie_Condo.html

I would say get a replacement every 2 months .

I was seriously thinking about getting one of these tents for my Basil because I want him to be warm and cozy at night. Before purchasing, I was cautioned (by the online store I use) to get a DNA test to make sure Basil is a "he" so I don't cause any nesting behaviour. Are there any safer cozy sleep products on the market?

I had read that tents and huts could be dangerous so we bought a "Birdie Binkie" for our Quaker. She LOVES it so much that we have one in her cage at our cottage and I have a backup for cage cleaning. Our new Blue Crowned Conure doesn't sleep in his yet, but he does snuggle up to it. The Birdie Binkies are basically steel wire rings with fleece pieces tied around them. The bird can chew on the fleece but it pretty much only stretches it a bit. Try ABirdToy.com or Ebay. I think I paid $11 for a medium binkie. We bought a small one for our parakeets too. I routinely wash the binkie and it looks just the same as the day we got it. I can't say enough good things about the Binkie. Our bird goes in her binkie around 7 p.m. and stays there until 7 a.m.!

the snuggle huts scare me, so many parrots die in them that it's not worth the risk of having one.

anything can become a hazard to your bird. just look at the girl on our forum whose parrot had a minor fall and died from major head trauma. the cage wasnt even that tall.

dont let other peoples ideas affect the happiness of your pet.

all three of my conures absolutely love happy huts. and I plan on making my own with organic bamboo velour.

i have three, but they all pile into one lol

heres my setup for three conures. the seed tray needs cleaned.. i plan on doing that here soon.. anyways, at the bottom i have a natural stick perch kinda of low so they can use it to get out of the door, i have one ladder from the cages seed skirt to the ground so they can climb up if they jump off, rope perch, natural wood perches in the corners, dowel rod from food area to other food area, a petco perch that had sections of sea foam that i peeled off and wrapped a preening toy around, flight suit on the outside to get them used to it, cuttle bone, mineral blocks, corner tent with perch inside, three sleep sacks, a corner rope, and i keep everything mid level so they are forced to climb up to play with hanging toys or to get into the sleep sack. :) lots of perches on the outside of the cage, fun stuff ontop, and a tote ontop of a cage stand that has play gyms on it. and two pediperches on the door

also.. at the dowel perch level of the dangling infant toy, i have a shoe lace tied to it. also have two kinds of rope hanging from the ceilling.. no problems with them. birds love it.
