St thomas conure

My st thomas just die. I try my best already. I am sad

I am so sorry for your loss:(

I am so sorry about your little conure passing. Are you going to get a necropsy done to find out why it died? Now I am worried about your little lovebird. I wonder if you brought home the conure with illness since you didn't have it very long.

My lovebird is ok. My pet shop offer me another conure at half price. I might take it this sat

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your St. Thomas. What a horrible shock that must have been.

Personally I think that your pet shop should give you another conure free of charge. He must have been sick when you acquired him.

If you do decide to get another conure, I'd like to suggest that you pick up some toys and fresh veggies and fruit for him to eat. I didn't see any toys in your cages from the images you posted, and it looked like your birds are on an all seed diet. These little guys need lots of things to keep them busy, plus the fruit and veggies will help keep them healthy for many years to come. You also might want to consider getting a bigger cage as well, as toys do take up a lot of space inside their cage.

Rest assured; I'm not saying that your baby's diet was in any way a cause for his demise, but rather am hoping to provide you with some helpful tips to keep your babies healthy and happy.

Please keep us posted!

Gyparrot, if you don't mind me asking, where are you located?

I ask because many bird owners live in an area where toys and food for parrots are bountiful. This typically includes countries such as Australia, The United States of America, Canada and parts of Europe.

Is it safe to say that you live in a country where parrot care is different? And there may be a lack of avian specific veterinarians? (i.e. South America or Mexico, for example?)

I don't know about other places, but many of the pet stores in America have a 1-2 week health guarantee on their birds... and this pet shop will only give you another conure at half price in less than a week?

I replace a sun conure with my past beloved St Thomas.

Was the cage thoroughly clean and sanitized before you put the sun in there?

Can anyone tell how old is my conure? My pet shop say about 1 yr old.

Give or take, that sounds about right. Unfortunately, there is no way to visually tell the age of a bird once they molt into their adult colors.

I said adult colors. Conures typically don't reach sexual maturity until 2-5 years in age, but they can start getting their adult colors as early as 4-6 months in age and can continue coloring up within the first 6 years of their life. However, by the time they are 1.5-2 years old, they typically have the majority of the colors that they'll have for the rest of their life.

Can you tell if my bird colour is around 1yr old? And how you tell it?

Beautiful bird!

He definitely needs more toys! Get 8-10 and rotate them occasionally. Otherwise he won't have enough to keep him stimulated and happy.
