Hi, we only got our baby 2 weeks ago he's not bonded, he's escaped out the window, I have no words to how I feel, it's nearly been 24hrs we've had his cage out full of his favourite treats, I basically live on a building site and he's a baby, is there anything else I can do, I alerted the neighbourhood, have we got any chance of him coming home??

Welcome to the forums, Vonnie1987, although I am very sorry for the heartbreaking circumstances!

I have linked up several resources for you that you may find useful. Firstly I would strongly suggest that you list on the Parrot Alert website, if you have not done so already ...

It's also a good idea to advise all vet clinics in your vicinity, not just avian specialists but ALL vet clinics, as lost birds are often found and handed in there. You can also post on local Facebook groups for lost pets and/or birds, and do an old fashioned letter-box drop with paper flyers. I did just that years ago when I lost an Indian Ringneck and it resulted in him being returned to me on the very same day.

Obviously the sooner a bird can be found the better, but there are any number of incidences where birds have been returned to their families after weeks, or sometimes even months, so don't give up hope!

I wish you all the very best of luck in your search, and hope your baby can be returned safely to you very soon πŸ™

I am so sorry to hear this! Please know that we all are here to help. As previously stated, the best thing to do right now is to alert your neighborhood and keep in regular contact with vet clinics and nearby pet stores. A very nice lady in my community lost her cockatoo over a month ago and just yesterday found him after someone noticed the "lost bird poster" that she hung up. The point is don't lose hope and keep trying!

You're doing well, don't lose hope. Also, put up posters if you haven't already. My budgie, Stormy, flew away almost exactly one year ago. I got him back a week later. Don't lose hope!

I would ask your neighbors to be on the lookout for him and see if you can check their back yards. If he's not a good flier, he may be quite close by. Even if he is, he may not have gone that far. I second the suggestion of posting on Parrotalert.com. Also, put up flyers in your neighborhood and post on craigslist and nextdoor. Call avian vets in your area to let them know in case someone calls them. You can search for one here: https://www.aav.org/search/custom.asp?id=1803.
