Re: rio still skittish

Hi riosmom! I just recently got my conure a few weeks ago and he is the same age as your little guy. Pierre is still very skittish too, even three weeks later. I don't have much experience but from what I've been told some birds just take a little longer to warm up to you, especially since they love so long, so 8 months is still considered a baby. I've been trying to handle Pierre as much as I can and he is fine once I get him out of the cage (which is always a battle in itself), but when he is in his cage he gets snappy and territorial.

Re: rio still skittish

You've only had him a month. Although Charlie warmed up to me "instantly" (once I got him home, but not before that), it took Jayde a few months to calm down. She was a nervous preener/scratcher and couldn't hold still at first.

Have you tried something like millet to train him with?
