Sorry for the poor photo quality (especially last photos.. she's not THAT yellow!), but thought you all may enjoy this!
Casey is my first cockatiel, she's 12 years old and I've had her for just about 12 years! (in November, it'll be 12 yrs). She loves scritches. I was trying to get Casey to step up from inside her cage and she typically knows the difference between "I'll give you a head scratch" and "Step Up" followed by a head scratch! But today, she was pretty adamant about her scritches!
Palm facing down, hand about head level or higher if possible = scritch
(also accompanied with finger wriggling!)
Hand at feet or below, palm up or sideways = step up

It didn't matter how I presented my hand to her though, she kept putting her head down for a scritch!

And do you know how cute it is when they twist their head just so???
I kept removing my hand, and presenting my hand to her to get her to step up... but she just put her head down lower so I couldn't reach her feet...
And lower... (ok! ok! I did finally give in!!!!)
And lower.....
Yup, she's finally quite content getting scritches!
Next thing I know, I've got a Casey bird hanging upside down getting her scritches!
