COVID-19 Virus

Re: Wuhan virus

Yeah, the testing in this country strikes me as nothing more than a show to keep people calm.

Knocking on wood for you that it is a cold or a very mild case and stays that way!

It is very important to remember that 'DNA Testing Kits' have only become available in volume in the last few weeks and will take several more weeks for there to be test sets in large enough volume for anyone, anywhere to be tested 'on-demand!'

It is as important to remember just how little time has past since North American Scientists and Technical Staff have had access to the Virus, been able to reproduce it, understand it (remember this thing has a protein within it), then create a very special testing (DNA based) that is reliable and repeatable.

I, like you, wanted to be where we are weeks ago. Sadly, China elected not to allow North American Scientists in way back then! Access is still very limited and reliable information is still iffy...

Seven years ago, we had H1N1 and we loss 1000 Americans and over six months prior to us being even this close to where we are today.. That doesn't change the fear, but at least helps to understand that what is happening is all in the correct direction and much quicker than North America was able to do it just a short seven years ago...

Not unless you hospitalized!!!!! Plus didn't even do the flu test on her,!!

Re: Wuhan virus

I think a lot of doctors are still sticking with the original/rigid testing criteria---and with places in CA moving from "containment to mitigation" they are likely to recommend self-quarantine until symptoms are gone and testing if hospitalized. Sad but true.

Re: Wuhan virus

Coronavirus in my town if 40,000 people!!!!! One Walmart, 2 grocery stores, so we all go to the same places......., Very scary!!!!!
Plus they announced for the mild cases, slight fever, dry cough, fatigue, these are all the things I have,!! No fever anymore, but still dry cough, and taking naps ( which I never have since I was tiny baby, I didn't even nap then my mom said);..... I have stayed in since fever and cough. So if it is a mild case, I can say it is very mild , or it just a cold , who knows.....no I won't get tested. My mom's best freind just came back 4 days ago from a cruise, used the port in Florida that they told all cruise people to self isolate. She has a fever and cough, went to doc, told was on the cruise from the port that has infection, he said he not testing her unless she gets sick enough to need a hospital!!!! She is 78!!!!!

If they test someone and it comes pack positive for covid-19 the case becomes a statistic. If they don't KNOW she has it they don't have to report it.

Re: Wuhan virus

Plus they have world golf thing going on. The news said they handed out hand sanitizer, but didn't cancel, think low risk and it brings 152 million in state revenue!!!!!!!!!
Concourse de elegance just finished brings in car entry from 300 global sites as bragged about on their web site,! Plus thousands of people from around the world.....we cruise ship capital.....
And don't forget spring breakers are here now ....
If they get up to speed on testing we will have so many so very many.....

Re: Wuhan virus

Oh, the cat thing reminds me! The rescue said they were having problems finding isopropyl alcohol for the vet work! Apparently everyone bought up all the hand sanitizer and then turned to rubbing alcohol! The clinic is now having to think about other options such as using high proof vodka or grain alcohol!!

And my mother in law in Maryland said she couldn't find pinto beans for a dinner party she was throwing(but isn't it funny, everyone cancelled) in any form at the store, and she said the taco guy at the farmer's market said he couldn't find rice anywhere. Bare shelves and no toilet paper. She is in total denial and my husband is extremely worried about her. She is doing NOTHING different, and is in denial about being in a high risk group. Literally said the only reason older adults are being cautioned is over underlying health issues, which she doesn't have(she does tho) and so she is fine, thankyouverymuch. She literally said to him at one point when he was asking if she had a plan that she "wasn't stupid and could figure these things out for herself." AUUUUGGGG! Why are smart people so STUPID sometimes? Sigh I hope she starts to take this more seriously soon.

Re: Wuhan virus

Graph just a few days old. The U.S. testing level per capita is grotesque.

Here in UK they have upped testing with far more drive in testing - done through the car window. They have announced unlimited funds for the National Health Service, and there is already talk of shutting down. They are definitely ramping up the concern yet still many feel it is not enough soon enough.

Re: Wuhan virus

Just checked with my elderly neighbor who had heart and lung disease. He said what no big deal is just a cold right?!!?!!! For the love of all, this is not a cold!!!! He believed all the misinformation!!!!!

Re: Wuhan virus

BTW,
The last pandemic advisor to the president, before budget cuts eliminated that office last year.....
Said 10 days till hospitalised people over run the hospitals.............. I didn't save, was trying not to cause fear, but I think fear changes behaviors, so sometimes fear can be good, better than not telling the truth....... I tried as hard as I could, for you all, and all my family and friends ( who listened thank goodness! )
Please all be safe.

https://veryhealthy.life/20-healing-benefits-of-ginger-root/2/

I'm always looking for natural remedies to illness and believe that even though synthetic drugs are needed at times, natural is better. I've been reading on ways to increase immunity against coronavirus. Then I found nestled among immunity builders info the recommendation to include Ginger. From what I've read it's a strong anti-inflammatory, antiviral spice with antibiotic properties. But hard to find.

Recently I got worried because I developed a mild vibration in my upper lungs that I don't usually have unless I have bronchitis, and I don't. But I can't even find the spice Ginger. So, as a last resort I bought some Ginger Snap cookies and guess what, the vibration in my airways is almost completely gone! I've never used Ginger in cooking except for many years ago I used it once, but if I can find it will now. I'm going to look in some health food stores for Ginger root.

Ginger is great stuff. I chew a little for all sorts of mild aches and pains. It's good for upset stomachs too. Plus delicious! Birds like it too

Re: Wuhan virus

It's just so hard to grasp......even as I watched it build......it's just so hard to except that's it's here...
More cases near me, so many elsewhere,

Many years ago on one of our evening news channels a Psychologist used to come on nearly every day for a few minutes with some advice about dealing with life's situations. At the end of the clip he'd say "remember, the mind is powerful medicine".

And the mind is powerful. Will you please believe that, and try this mental exercise? See your body enveloped in a beautiful white light, inside and out, and mentally or out loud tell yourself that it is the light of health and wellness. Tell coronavirus it has no power over you, but that you have power over it. See the light in and around you as healing energy. Make it a regular practice, because if you stay so stressed out this virus will pull you down.

You've got to build up immunity to this thing, physically and mentally.
