What I think its important to know, and what us rarely if ever reported. Age and demographics of those hospitalized with coronavirus.

The hospitalization rate is split nearly equally in thirds by those 17 years and up. Yes, there is nearly an equal distribution in ages of people who need to be hospitalized with coronavirus.

The amount if time each age group over age 17 needs to spend in the hospital is equal .

While deaths due to coronavirus are weighted to elderly and pre existing conditions. But we have much evidence that those younger may suffer permanent damage to major organs.

Is this deliberate to keep the working class age group from knowing you are just as likely to need hospitalization as the elderly? I don't know.

You can find this information on CDC but you have to dig. Some states will provide this information. No sources were easy to link, as they are usually in PDF

If you wonder why they don't talk age demographics you can search for yourself.

Why so many posts today on this? 5557 new coronavirus cases in Florida today twice the number of the next highest states reported cases

On the rise here in CT also. Our positivity rate was under 1 for the longest time,now bouncing around 2.8 and 3..Hospitalization was around 56,now over 125. 3 or 4 deaths a day now.

Who the heck is 'THEY'? As in 'they' are silencing the flow of information.

The National Media has been running an ongoing 'Hate /War Campaign' since mid-March 2020. Such a story of "silencing information' would be splashed across the full News Media and fully around the clock... But, it's not there and haven't been there. WHY!?!? Because there is nothing there. When there is a want to fill unaddressed questions, Conspiracy Theories natural fill the void.

Note, the number of dead links, which in December, January, and February where easily found are gone? Why? Who is really hiding the truth. The fingerprints are there.

Science can easily be split into a couple of categories: Those that are working very hard to find a cure for this Monster Virus and those who are more interested in creating fear and divide.

My Conspiracy Theory is fairly simple and lays near perfectly over the Drug distribution network in North America. As Colleges open for the Fall session, surprise, there is an increase in the number of cases. And, guess where there are also increase in drugs???
 
I know that the World Health Organization and the Lancet Journal of medicine, and John Hopkins are calling for transparency in demographics. The World Health has directly addressed this asking countries to release demographics information, that the excuses that they haven't had time to go this are untrue.

Florida doesn't release hospitalization rates. Florida doesn't meet the World Health Orgsnization Standars on coronavirus reporting. According to John Hopkins, Florida is doctoring the positivity rate.

Hospitalization up in age 20-40 in UK
UK hospital admission data from the ISARIC4C study show an increase in excess hospital admissions since Aug 1, 2020, among women aged 20–40 years old. Of female patients admitted to hospital, 49 (12·0%) were age 21–30 years, versus 33 (8·1%) age 41–50 years, and 35 (8·6%) age 61–69 years.

(CDC) showed that cases of COVID-19 in individuals aged 18–22 years in the USA increased by 55% between Aug 2 and Sept 5, 2020.

Without violating political discussion protocol, a global leader is on verified audio tape numerous times in March-April timeframe fully acknowledging the remarkable transmissibility of Covid amid stated strategy of publicly understating effects. Historians will debate whether a national strategy might have mitigated the worst of human misery and death while balancing economic fallout within the U.S. And now we see signs of resignation and adoption of an abjectly disproven herd immunity as best solution. Based on U.S. population of 338M and the need for roughly 60% infection rate, 231M would develop detectable symptoms. Assuming a 1% mortality, death toll approximates 2.3M. With 225K lives taken to date, we're just baby steps to another 2M losses. Somehow, this ain't gonna fly. Yes, vaccines and therapeutics are on the way, but until Phase III trials are complete (and this is where they typically fail) we have no panacea.

What is continually missed is that the USA is a Republic and there are real limits on just what the National Government can and cannot do. A National Strategy has been floated by one of the current candidates -- but, that flies in the face of the foundation of a Republic. and the Constitution. There is no question that such a Strategy 'may have' mitigated the continued spread of this Monster Virus. But, it would /will end-up in the Supreme Court.

Not sure what the discussion regarding the population of the USA provides other than short of shutting-down ever mode of travel down, plus closing everything, the Virus will continue to spread even with the vanguard practices in place.

That all said, with the current State of National News, IF the current administration was with malus hiding information, it would be all over the news -- its not...

In all reality, a Virus never really goes away. They simply weaken and/or fall to effect a population that has herd immunity either as a result of exposure or immunity by use of a drug or better, both. That is a truth, not a disproven theory and is supported by human history.

The short point that I was making is that the term 'they' in fact applies to a multiple number of organizations and countries all attempting to change or target one group over another.

Federal Constitutional Republic, but missed by whom? During times of emergency, the bully pulpit of leadership rallied (no pun intended!) citizens to cooperate for the greater good. Even as some personal liberties were abated for finite period. Public acquiescence to strict rationing, covering of windows, tales of Rosie the Riveter, and other sacrifices during WW2 are legendary.

The U.S. was never fully "shut down" as with China and other harshly authoritarian nations. Yet strict precautions demonstrably "bent the curve" only to see uptick with relaxation. The key is how to balance viral resurgence with socioeconomic misery? We are seeing another uptick in case rates and hospital admissions concurrent with colder weather and emergence of influenza season. Truly a race against time for effective therapeutics and vaccines.

We've mostly mitigated the global disaster of influenza with yearly variable vaccination. Perhaps the same will be required with SARS-CoV-2.

It has been unusual, an eye opener, and educational to see the far reaching effects of a global pandemic. There have been things that are side-effects of this global pandemic of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus 2, that I never imagined .

But the most surprising has to be this turn against science. One thing I'm sure of is that the worlds leading doctors and scientists, don't all belong to one single political party. The world's leading doctors and scientists are as diverse as the rest of us.

And yet they can agree on the science of how germs spread , and the things you can do to interrupt that spread.

A mask is a great tool at lowering the spread of a respiratory virus. The different filtration ratings of the mask have different effects on the levels of virus. But they all have an effect . The virus leaves our bodies in respiratory droplets and secretions. The virus isn't just shooting out of us. And masks will capture respiratory droplets, lowering tye virus load that escape our bodies. If both people are wearing a mask the virus is filtered twice. Greatly reducing infection.

Myself id like to see less deaths. My state Florida is near 17,000 deaths..

Agreed....In my opinion, Americans failed here because too many of them (and too many politicians who depend on their votes) wanted to be like entitled, enlarged but underdeveloped high schoolers who insist that "tonight is the night, we only have tonight"....just like that stupid song lol...It failed because of this individualistic, instant gratification mentality....E.G., it's been 2 months and I am bored- "ef it" or.."I'm young and healthy-I won't die, so I am doing whatever I want no matter the cost to society."

The US is like the parent who gives in at the check-out line when their kid has a tantrum for a candy bar...China was the parent who walked their kid out of the store. Guess who is doing better, and guess whose economy will suffer less? This is long-term now in the US, because it was half-assed...and the US cases are going to harm people all over the world, because the commitment to economics is greater than to human life. I know they go hand-in-hand, but I'd rather we had done it right and cut this short than sacrificed for nothing because individual states can do whatever they want and endanger the entire world...Some people (and some states) never took it seriously, and they were allowed to get away with that (while others did their part and took massive hits socially and financially...just so the entitled ones could bring on a resurgence via premature reopening and personal negligence..)

Not a happy camper AT ALL...SO SICK of people being blasé..
They rationed paper, colored ink, had curfews, and controlled how many shoes a family could have in WW2, but we can't stand much less severe restrictions...people grew freaking gardens for the war effort, but "we" hoard toilet paper and joke about this like it isn't killing hundreds of thousands of people.

Doctors are worn out, teachers are screwed, grocery store workers...all of the people who have no choice....ughhhh! I'm so frustrated with the "mask fatigue" BS.. This isn't even close to over.

Still climbing here..yesterday we had 200+ hospitalized,255 tested positive and 8 deaths. Positivity rate is now 4.2

Florida lifted state mask mandate at the end of September, now at the end of October we have 3,000, to over 5,000 daily new cases of coronavirus.....

Some localities still have mask mandates, but not my city, or my sister city, and we are seeing a rise in hospitalization and death..

This is from the end of September ( almost 14,000 deaths)

Today, official coronavirus deaths stand at 16,505 in Florida. Yet the true number of dead from the pandemic could be up to 25% higher if you include people who are listed as having died of other causes brought on by the pandemic, according to a new study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Researchers at the CDC found that up to 22,861 people more than normal may have died between Jan. 1 and Oct. 3 — 8,000 above the official COVID-19 tally at that time.

Here in the UK we are struggling again. At least they have tried to stem the infections but nothing seem to work and we are on the way to a second wave of infections and lock downs. Some areas are already in place. France Italy and now France are locking down frantically as infection rises. I heard yesterday, an interview with Uni students who were holding Covid parties! They would rather get it at Uni together than catch it and take it home to parents. The trouble is that if you get it you are only immune for about 2-3 months and then the antibodies fade and you are able to catch it again. A lot of people are apparently symptomless so they don't even know they are infectious. Whatever the rules please wear masks everywhere, wash and sanitise hands and wrists all the time and even make an effort to wash cuffs on clothes.

Animals can carry it on their coats so again hygiene all the time and don't touch faces, eyes, noses or mouth until you have used soap for at least 20 seconds.
 
Haven't read thru the thread recently. I admit I avoid this thread now... too much. Recently I read that survivors who have severe cases are experiencing brain ageing of 10 years... about a 8.5 pt IQ drop! In addition to all of the other long term complications. :( USA is in a bad way. My state is having a huge surge at the same time as sending kids back to school and allowing sporting events.... and concerts! There are 2 big concerts coming up that they keep advertizing on the radio. A country music concert(very very popular here), and a rap concert. I agree that we cannot shut everything down for the entire duration of the plague, but some of these things seem like needless risks to me.



On a positive note, feed shop lady says that now they get 60% of what they order as opposed to 40-50% a few months ago. Grocery store still has gaps in the shelves, but smaller ones and the freezer that had been completely empty is stocked again. Canning jar companies are not even trying to fill demands and have stated they will not be selling any product until the spring. They are hoping to build stock for the canning season. I hope everyone has a plan for how to safely celebrate the upcoming holidays. We don't get trick or treaters here(too isolated), but there are a lot of clever ideas I have been seeing online for candy chutes and things like that. :)



We will be decorating lots and lots. It may only be the two of us here, but we need some holiday cheer.
 
Getting worse here. Yesterday's positivity rate was up over six %. Everything is up..hospitalization and deaths..some towns are going back to phase two.
