Domnijoe - The Art Studio and Bird Herder's Residence

I resist can easily resist getting another bird. Difficult but doable. I hear these words just before the crack of most dawn's. Yes, maassaa, yes maassaa. Words only spoken then and no other time. Words accompanied by bell ringing or toy playing. I give a sigh and get up. This particular human owner is kinda benevolent. The next one could be a grade A dictator!

I used to look at bird training videos. I stopped after an episode. I was watching one. My first CAG came over to back of couch to watch with me. I started watching him watch it. Then he started hysterical laughing complete with wheezing gasps. He'd pace and laugh. I wondered if he was being critical of bird taking orders from a human. Then again maybe TV bird was giving birdie insults about trainer. The bird body language only someone with feathers could understand.

A suggestion for you to consider for coop. Get or make a birdie gym. Made to fit in coop. Put casters and maybe a pull cord on it. Train birdies to like being on it moving. Roll in, and out. Easy clean. You can put treat dish on it too. It'd be easy to make it out of PVC pipe. It's very versatile and limited only by the imagination. The tubing, joints and cutter are all you need. Use multidirectional casters. You would need a drill for them. I didn't use the pipe glue for joints when I made a gym. I was worried about fumes and chewing. Busy beaks can find any type of do not chews and proceed to chew. There's cut acrylic you might look at to protect flooring. Put the paper on the acrylic. I've been doing a lot of thinking about it. Specifically for a certain CAG when near kitchen. I'm annoyed with her at the moment. She knows corn on cob, sweet potatoes cubes, sunflower seeds, walnuts, pecans etc come from chest freezer. She flys to lid. She'll then knock repeatedly on it yelling come, come in. If I ignore her the search for a parrot accessible entrance starts. I don't think that the coop would hold up to her beak. So I ruled it out.

I love your idea! I have a small one in there right now, but a PVC pipe one may do what I cannot purchase, LOL. ...Or I could modify a cheap Amazon one... Hrrrm.. possibilities are endless...

Hope it helps. Ideas are always helpful. You could tweak a premade. Make a bottom frame with PVC add casters, a few extra climbing perchs and you are set. If Nameliss were less energetic in her disassembly hobby, I would seriously consider this. How's Yvonne doing? Tell him Nameliss ate most of her broccoli with VERY little waste this morning. I didn't believe the near empty chop bowl. Found myself studying cage bottom for the stuff. I was so happy to not see much. I ruined the health benefits. She got 3 fast food greasy French fries. Her monthly allotment early. I shouldn't have done it. I remembered this after fries. I took special effort for broccoli florets with limited stalks.

LOL! Yvons is a stinker for Pizza. He asks for it! I had pizza bites a few days ago and gave him a small bit. He was thrilled. It's hard to tell what Yvons has eaten and what he hasn't, as my dog cleans up after him faster than a hoover in a sawdust factory. I usually can tell, tho, what's not a favorite by what's left in the food bowl. It's usually carrots, LOL!

Neither of my birds are fond of carrots either. I find it odd, since they’re a bit sweet. 🤷‍♀️

Nameliss loves sweet potatoes. These are among her will work for this food items. I trick her with lightly steamed grated carrots and squash mixed with slightly smashed sweet potato. She has to taste the other to get sweet potato. Rarely she'll actually take a bite of a carrot. She actually ate/destroyed a baby carrot once. She punished me though. She took it to her human watching perch. After each nibble she glared at me. It was funny. Is there a parrot who doesn't love or at least like pizza?

Nameliss wants to show Yvonn her bed. Unfortunately she also eats in it. I don't know why she insists on eating her pellets and sleeping in that location. As a card carrying CAG it's her right to not use feeders, devices, toys etc as as advertised. I check her feet frequently. I don't understand how she thinks that retangular edge is comfortable. When she sleeps I am expected to cover that area only. Using just enough cover for partial light blockage. She must be able to peak under cover. I must be in bed, no book, tablet, crocheting etc. She's domineering that way. She's also upset that I haven't put that heavy cage in her preferred exact position.

Yvons does something similar. Takes his food to his beloved napping perch and eats it there. SIlly burbs!

Does he have different areas for different nibbles? Nameliss has a human watching while nibbles perch. Nibbles as I'm contemplating perch. Nibbles and nibbles while being entertained perch. Finally I'm hungry leave me alone nibble perch. I watch this and wonder if this normal. Then I wonder if I am simply nuts trying to make meaningful behavior out of nothing. But I can pick up on not usual behavior in a second.

Not that I've noticed! He does have a perch for simply eating treats and another for beating up on toys, but he sleeps on those as well. I'll have to pay more attention to his perch habits!

Found a guy selling his conure. Untamed. He's 6-7 years old. I think I'm gonna take the bird.

SO much for 'no more birds'.

Update on the green cheek conure - I am second in line for this bird. We'll see what happens this weekend. :)

Tummy Troubles today, so the birds aren't out for playtime. I hate doing this to them, but I've felt horrid all day. :( I told Yvons I'll make it up to him tomorrow if I feel better .
