Domnijoe - The Art Studio and Bird Herder's Residence

Yvons got his playtime today, and the dog was a brat for cleaning up his discarded food. I was given food from someone who included a bag of human-grade peanuts in shell, so I've been offering my brats some. Yvons is in his glory! I stuff them and a few slivered almonds in his foraging tray. It's how I get Yvons into his cage, LOL

And an update on the conure I want to adopt - the people before me never showed up, so he's going to me. I just have to wait until the 26th for my funds to arrive, and by then, I'll have transferred Vortex to her temporary cage and have room made for the new bird. The caretaker is painting my apartment door before then, so I have to rearrange things for the painters. Thankfully, the paint is low odor. :)

How are you going to arrange things with your new flock member. I am a more clutter is better personality. My crafts barely leave room for a CAG and her accessories. While I've been tempted that fact assists in discouraging me for additional flock members.

LOL ! I totally hear ya on the 'more clutter is better' idea. MY art stuff takes up half of my bird room/living room/computer space. I have enough room for one - and exactly one - bird cage, LOL, so this is likely gonna be my last bird for a while.

I'm not sure. My sister and daughter gave me several tee shirts. Each with a variation of...I crochet to collect yarn. The only way I can pass yarn at a garage sale or thrift store is to be 100% broke including no access to my card or my daughter driving. I have better control in a real store, unless there's a clearance. You sound like you have space measured to the millimeter. So what's to stop you from alternative spacing? An example is my dog's kennel has yarn and crafting stored on it. You maybe working subconsciously on well maybe if I...?

I hear ya! I would love to get into breeding green cheek conures again. Vortex's current cage is a breeding cage, but I'm secretly hoping I'll end up with two male conures, and that little daydream won't happen. I've seriously considered rearranging my bird room to fit a sixth cage in, but I have to say 'no' at a certain point. I hope 'no' at 6 birds is gonna resonate in my skull.

Why must bird herding be so addictive???!!!

Thankfully while tempted over the years, Nameliss domineering behavior combined with lack of human fear stops me. I prefer herding yarn, beads, material and the like. This along with all the accessories needed for same. Clutter yes. And I don't have to indulge in or deal with attitude and demands.

Update on the new conure situation:

Hoping to pick him up on Nov 26th (My brother's B-day, too!). The bird's current owner hasn't told me his bird's name, just that he's male. He's on a diet of Hari/Hagen large parrot seed mix and fruits and veggies. No pellets. I'm gonna ask about the bird's cage and the bird's age, as I don't know anything about that. The owner wants extra for the cage, but as I have enough here, I can just do without. I'm getting the bird's toys, too. With four smaller birds, I can always do with bird toys, LOL!!!

EDITED TO ADD: The cage is a $300 cage. He's about 3 years old and named Mango. VERY CUTE!

Just got back from a huge shopping spree at PetSmart. Got seed for the new conure, Nutriberries and pellets for the current Dinosaurs, and a new water bottle for the new conure. Then at the grocery store, I picked up bulk pumpkin seeds and slivered almonds. Then Tumerek (sp?) for the old farts, as it's supposed to help with arthritis inflammation.

Now just gotta wait for next Wednesday to roll around. That's when Mango (to be renamed either Trailbreaker or Tailgate) comes home.

Sounds like you're having fun with the anticipation!

I'm pretty excited! I bought enough food to last me a while. And I think Tailgate is gonna be Mango's official name :D.

I was sick yesterday—darn tummy troubles. As a result, I didn't have the brats out. For 2 days! They must be so anxious to get out! Then Tailgate/Mango comes home on Wednesday. SO MUCH STUFF to do!! LOL! But I love it!

The guy with the green cheek conure threw the fit because I made him 'wait for days' when my money didn't come in as expected, and he canceled the sale. Sigh. Ah well. His loss.

I did manage to find another bird to adopt. A Green cheek yet again. Should arrive on Saturday :) They're younger than I wanted, at 6 months, but I'll give them a good home. :D

Pictures!
I promise to take pix as soon as they come home :D . I have to see what name fits them best, too, though it might be Tailgate :D.

These are the first two pix of Tailgate from their previous owner. I had the choice between the high red-yellow-sided or the yellow-sided, and I asked who was more confident. Turns out the high red is the slightly more confident bird. Yippie!!!!
