GCC and quaker sharing out-of-cage time?

I’ve been wanting a quaker, but I’ve already got a GCC; I’m worried they might not get along. It’d be a hassle to have them take turns out of their cages, so I wanted to know if it’d be likely I’d have to resort to that.

Both the GCC and quaker would be very young, and, if it matters, my GCC isn’t very territorial. They gladly welcome entire arms into their cage. That might change when the hormones kick in, though.

Friendship would be a bonus. I just need them to tolerate each other enough to share out-of-cage time.

Welcome to the forums @Lorikats, it's good you're thinking about these things ahead of time The answer is - maybe they'll get along and maybe they won't, it's very much up to the individual birds concerned. We have members with GCC/Quaker combos who get on very well, and others who really do not like each other and indeed do have to have separate out-of-cage time. There's no way to tell which way yours will go, and they may change again once one or both birds reach sexual maturity too, as both GCCs and Quakers can get pretty territorial. Best any of us can do is be prepared for all eventualities and hope for the best. Oh and if you have some pics of your GCC to share, we'd love to see them!
