re: Hunter's 5th Surgery (& then 6th)

What an amazing time we live in, I didn't even know these options were available for birds! I'm glad you've access to competent and capable professionals. It'll be fine come the weekend, don't you worry.

re: Hunter's 5th Surgery (& then 6th)

Praying that they get it all this time! No more surgeries for Hunter!

She's such a toughie! She'll recover just as swiftly as last time, if not even quicker!

Wendy, that is terrible it is already coming back! Poor Hunter:( And your dog is injured on top of it.

I hope all goes well for everyone and they can get rid of all of it this time.

re: Hunter's 5th Surgery (& then 6th)

Wendy, I know you've had a long tough week waiting with Hunter for tomorrow. The wait is almost over, Hunter will be in the best possible hands both during and after her surgery. I hope everything goes smoothly and Hunter will be home singing 'Jiggly Puff' by tomorrow evening. Hugs and positive thoughts. Please give Ziva and Oscar belly rubs for me.

re: Hunter's 5th Surgery (& then 6th)

Best wishes for Hunter, hugs, good luck Wendy :)!

If you get rid of 100% of the growth, can it come back then?

You all are THE BEST! You have me in tears!

We're leaving in 35-40 minutes, it's a 30 minute drive to the hospital. I will update when we get back.

Awwh poor Hunter, and your dog too!

Sebastian, I don't know. I'm sure it could come back 'elsewhere' on the membrane, but if the mass in its entirety is removed, it should not come back in the same place.

re: Hunter's 5th Surgery (& then 6th)

Hugs!! And prayers too. I'll be watching for an update. :)

re: Hunter's 5th Surgery (& then 6th)

We're home! Hunter is fine - but pretty tired (as you will see in the short clip at the bottom). :)

It was a LONG afternoon! Dr. Doolen was working on an emergency (male Eclectus), and we didn't get called in until 2:45PM. My nerves were shot by then. As much as I hate saying this, it was GREAT to see my favorite doctor again, even though I wish it would have been under different circumstances. :32:

He gave Hunter a quick check-over, and then left us in the room while he prepped the OR. I was VERY thankful my husband accompanied me this time, I was NO fun to be around, I promise. :31:

Before Dr. Doolen took her into the OR, he explained he was gonna do things a 'bit different' than Dr. Mickley, meaning he was going to really dig into her membrane until he reaches healthy tissue. Once they left it was LOOOONG 30 minute wait!

And yes, I broke into happy tears when they emerged! :)

I took a photo of Hunter this morning as well, but you'll have to wait til tomorrow until I upload it. You can see how the xanthoma had grown back!

Now without further delay, here is my groggy girl.
