I lost maggie tonight!!

That somebody would actually take the time to go out of their way to try to make somebody who's already down feel terrible leaves me at a loss for words. I guess all I can say is I feel sorry for that person. They must have a level of misery that we cannot understand. Too bad they feel the need to share it but oh well humans have ceased to amaze me with the things that they are capable of doing to each other and to other creatures. Thankfully those are the minority. You know you have the support of everyone here and I'm sure the overwhelming majority of people in your neighbourhood and anybody who has read your story. So happy to hear about the local media agreeing to do a story on Maggie! More publicity can only be beneficial in helping get her back to you. Still sending good vibes and waiting for some good news which will hopefully come sooner than later :)

I'm not afraid nor ashamed to admit I'd beat the crap out of someone that pulled that stunt.

Have you thought of getting a megaphone of any kind when you go search?

Ugh. Don't listen to them. You know Maggie way better than some bitter old stranger. People who make comments like that aren't even worth wasting energy on, glad you hung up.

I'm so happy to hear that more and more people around you are aiding in the exposure of your current situation with Maggie. That seems like a good sign to me!

Hey Mark,
I just wanted to let you know, I did a google search and checked out a few sites, like parrot alert 911, but I didn't see any listings for Maggie (or any green wings at all).

I checked through a few, not sure but I thought you had posted on one of those sites. If not, you probably should because I'm sure someone who finds her may do the same google search. I'm going to keep looking for FOUND -------edit------

my mistake, she's on the second page! Ill keep searching and see if anyone has found a GW

Maggie is listed on 911Parrot alert (official) She was listed the day after she went missing. They are the ones that made the poster. They have listed her under 9 other forums

Mark, don't let people like that guy question how you raise your birds. They don't know you and have NO RIGHT to judge you. As far as I'm concerned, you are one of the most knowledgeable bird owners I know. There is always risks with free flight. Its a selfless act on your part. You do it for your birds to give them a better life. A life a bird should have. You do it because you love them, even with a chance of losing them. Why? Because their quality of life is important to you and you want them to be who they are! If that's not love, I don't know what is. Hang in there!

No. It's not that I listened to him.

It's that it just made me really, really friggin' angry... There's a line from an old Who song that comes immediately to mind: WTF Are You!!!

IF EVER THERE WAS A BIRD THAT DIDN'T BELONG IN A CAGE, IT'S MY MAGGIE!!! HATES IT... CANNOT STAND IT... GOES STIR CRAZY IF YOU LOCK HER UP...

Looks like the storm is going to miss us, but it's very, very windy again tonight.

Got the worst crank call yet tonight. Mean spirited @$$hole... I didn't listen to his entire rant. Hung up after about the second sentence. To parahprase: "Your bird is going to die if he isn't dead already. You're never getting him back. Next time leave the bird in a cage where he belongs....

For the record:

Maggie never belonged in a cage. She would have WISHED she were dead if she were forced to lived like that... she couldn't stand it!

I gave her a quality of life she didn't have before I got her.

I love her dearly. And she isn't dead yet.

F#@% HIM!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?!

I am at an utter loss for words:mad::mad::mad:. I am SO sorry you had to hear one word of that. People really suck sometimes:(.

Maggie and the rest of your birds live an exceptionally good life for pet parrots. The way you treat your birds is something myself and I'm sure numerous other people on this forum strive to give our own birds. You are a role model in the avian community. What happened was not your fault, it wasn't Maggie's fault or anyone else fault. It was an accident. She's being sighted, she's in the area, she's socialized and she WILL be found very much alive.

One of the local news agencies has agreed to do a story on Maggie!!!

I am very excited to hear this! I think that would get the word out to people outside the search area. News stories about lost pets garner a lot of attention from locals because unlike the bitter twit who called you earlier, most people empathize with being separated from a beloved pet. I hope that will be the key to bringing her home:)

That crank caller was a miserable and pathetic individual. May the deep shadow of a flock of defecating pigeons continue to darken his path.

You're doing a great job of staying strong for her, Mark. You'll find her. It's just a matter of when.

I think it's great that Maggie will be featured in a news story. The more eyes looking out for her, the better! When are they supposed to be doing this?

Non of our birds belong in a cage..... :( ....and this is a problem. They belong in the wild. This is my strong believe.
We are doing the best we can to make them happy as poor things were hatched next to people instead of birds.
Not that I want to go back to this documentary about parrots again really, but there is no right size cage for a macaw parrot, the right size cage for a Macaw is a Jungle!
I am sure Maggie loved these free flying with you, she is going to do this again with you soon.
You kept her happy, not like many other ones could. Don't blame yourself even for one second.

It's supposed to run tomorrow.

I think this is a HUGE break in finding her.

They sure as hell won't be selling her on Craig's List, or at the flea market after THAT story runs... which makes collecting the reward, and being "the hero" much more attractive.

I've just got caught up on this.....I feel like my heart is breaking. I'm so sorry you lost her...

I hope the news coverage helps her get back to you!!

Everyone in Zoological at SeaWorld got your e-mail about Maggie, and we're keeping our eyes peeled! Prayers for a quick and safe return. <3

Mark, are you guys keeping an eye on the classifieds regarding birds for sale? I saw a couple of greenwings advertised for sale when I looked. But being in South Africa means I have no clue how far these locations are from you. And it it is not in your area, is it not possible for them to have taken her somewhere else perhaps? That is of course if she has been found by someone already.

YES on the news story.

And that mean-spirited POS who called you is already rotting from the inside out. As someone who does live practically in a cage, I can tell you it takes a lot of energy to be that full of bitter poison and hatred. I promise you that guy's prison is his very own mind and body. He's stuck in it and he will get his, as much as I'd like to expedite the process, I know none of us will have to assist karma.

Just keep hanging on a little longer. Please take care of you. There's a reason they instruct passengers to first place they oxygen mask on oneself before assisting a child or companion- we are of no use operating on an internal skeleton crew. Getting sleep, no matter how you have to, eating quality food (with no appetite, focus on small meals throughout the day,) and being strict about what you ingest - choose positive music like pop, nothing depressing, same for any TV or movies. We are what we consume and right now you need every ounce of positivity you can find. Operating through something this traumatic is wreaks havoc on the mind and body. I'm sure you're beyond spent, exhausted, drained. That can lead to hopelessness and desperation, and you have my deepest and most heartfelt love and compassion right now.

We are all standing with you, especially those of us who cannot be there to help bring Maggie back home. Stay strong and please, take care of you.

We call them sorts sad g!ts here and it's a reflection of them and their sad life not you. Perhaps they do not have anything in their lives that means/brings so much to their life. Better to pity than get angry. :)
It's done for a reason do not give in and let them win - please?
