Moving with my parrot to higher altitude - New Mexico

I am considering moving closer to family from NY to Albuquerque, New Mexico. I am concerned if the transition from lower to higher altitude in New Mexico might have a negative effect on my bird's health and well-being? Would anyone here have some insight on this? Any fellow bird owners from New Mexico in this forum?

Big change, and not only geographically. I would limit physical activity for a few weeks until you both get used to the elevation.

I can't think of a better piece of advice.

I get altitude sick. It's nasty.

Take the worst migraine you ever had.
Couple that with the worst hangover you ever had.
Now mix in feeling like you can't breath.

Can't imagen how that would feel as a bird.
IF birds can get that. I assume they CAN.
Only the Kea lives in the high altitudes.

Time give you and your bird to build extra red blood cells you need to transport the thinner oxygen.

Thank you so much for the info..my sister is reassuring it's not a big deal..I'd just feel really tired for a couple months, that's all. This is scary...why me..😟 😨

Altitude sickness doesn't affect everyone.
My father had taken me to climb Mt Whitney and I did not get past where is called the portals at about 10,000 ft.

Also got sick in Bogota Colombia.

I wonder if it could have been due to my bad aorta valve?
