Hello! I have a green cheek conure that is about 9 years old and has been perfectly healthy for a long time. Earlier today I took him out of his cage and noticed a small bald spot under his beak with dried blood. I can't tell if the area is swollen or inflamed but I have noticed that he keeps itching at the area. I also noticed his eye rings, which have always been bright white, have taken a yellow tint to them. Other than that, his behavior has been normal and he is eating and drinking water. Calling the vet tomorrow but does anyone know what might be causing this?

Hello,

I am sorry your bird is not well. There are others here that have a lot more experience and knowledge than I do. But, the obvious advice is to get him to a CAV ASAP! I wish you well and hope this is easily fixed.

It is scary when your beloved birds are not well.

Yes needs veterinarian! Yellow like that indicates liver issues, can be because has a systemic infection from the issues under beak or other. Buts hide being sick until they can not, they can fake eat, play and do on. Any sign needs vet care, but this is a serious sign.
Extra warmth and increase in food is helpful with duck birds as is daily weight checks until issues are resolved. Sick birds usually drop weight as takes 3 times their normal calories to fight infection or health issues. Warmth should aim for 85f. Offering a cage or pet h warmer can help. I never recommend a heat lamp way to many problems. A radiant heat panel like sweeter heater as found on Amazon is great, often needs to be set back about 6 inches from cage, check with hand and make sure they can sit by it or move away. Offer millet sprsy for extra calories , increase seed offered if on pallets.

Good luck. Act this week , tomorrow or by Thurs best.

Yes avian vet.....I've never had that so I dunno what to suggest other than that.

Thank you this was really helpful. I made sure to put his cage away from any drafts and covered it with a warm towel until I can get him to the vet tomorrow.
