I didn't know chickens could be wild.

I think they’re feral? Afaik the only truly wild chickens are in Asia…

These are the original wild type jungle fowl from Asia and the roosters are beautiful. They live all over Key West wandering the neighborhoods and the streets in town just like pigeons do. They also have pigeons but the chickens are the real local birds. This guy has a fluff of white down poking out above his tail but most don't. I met a local woman who raised a rooster from a chick and he let you hold him and pet him. Each rooster has a small harem of plain little hens he takes care of along with a handful of babies.

Of course they aren't native but they've been running around KeyWest since the original European settlers so they're as wild as the can be.
Pigeons aren't native to the Americas either.
