One of mine looks to be a pearl pied. What color are your babies eyes.

My hasn't hatched yet and I mean I didn't see any veins or heartbeat when I candles the first one even though it's two days older. Should I be concerned?

Oh. Oops. Tex had one hatch. As for the egg id just take a wait and see approach.

I had a baby I thought was dead in egg and as I reached in to remove it it chirped. It hatched a few min later.

I also thought the second egg that hatched was infertile but I was wrong. Im not very good at candling I guess.

I have not been able to get a look at the baby yet.
The male is a white face and the female is a cinnamon.
As much as I want to see I don't want to risk injury to the baby or the rest of the eggs.
I will need to get into the nest box soon in order to keep it clean. My best chance will be when the male leaves the box to eat, the female is the most friendly Tiel I have.
I want to get pictures also but taking anything unusual into the cage get the birds upset.

The eyes wont be open for 10 days right? wont I have to wait for that ?

ps
both babies have yellow down.

picture of 2 babies

The one on the right I think hatched yesterday, one the left was today.
The emergency, to make it short was they fell in-between the bars of the bottom of the cage. I had to pull the bottom of the cage out without injuring the chicks.
The parents must have moved/knocked the chicks out of the nest box.

I think the one has red eyes. It looks like they gave you a lutino.

In my attachment the baby on left has pink(red) eyes. It means she will be a lutino.

If I recall correctly. Yours is also a girl. Silversage can explain it better but its a sex linked recessive gene that means its a girl.

Do you have a proper nest box?

Mine have light yellow fuzz. I read that means someone has a whiteface split.

I bought a proper nest box and they would not use it.

This is egg #2. Egg 3 is starting to show veins. Egg 1 still has nothing.

Third egg is hatching tonight but there is bad news also.
The second chick has ... disappeared. There is no sign of it anywhere in the cage or nest box.
I can only guess that one or both of the parents um.. disposed of it.
It may have been injured by the "fall" through the bars at the bottom of the cage.
It may have been weak and simply did not make it.
It could be that the parents did not care for it and it died.
I just don't know.

The first hatchling is getting bigger and looking healthy so I know the parents are capable of caring for them.

** when I say fall there was no " drop" the nest is on the floor of the cage and the baby was so small it just went down in between the bars. This problem has been corrected so it cant happen again. **

Will have to watch the third chick most carefully.

I'm so sorry to hear that... I hope there will be no complications with your third chick. I'm so scared something will go wrong with my birds.

Thank you for your sympathy. There are so many reasons this could have happened I won't beat myself up about it.
I will do all I can to see it does not happen again.

Love your pictures of the egg development, really a miracle to watch.

That is a good picture of the egg.

Tex sometimes things happen. My last clutch a baby didnt make it.

You might want to double check for the missing baby. Once I thought an egg dissapeared. I looked and looked and didnt find it. A week later I totally emptied the nest box and it fell to the floor and broke. It smelled awful.

Im sorry you lost one. Hope all goes well from now on.

I think my cockatiels have finished laying-- I didn't feel another egg in her. However, the first egg shows no signs of development whatsoever. Even the third egg is showing some veins. I will leave it in there for the time being but if the parents start rejecting it I may take it out.

I would leave it till they hatch. Removing it may prompt her to lay another.

Update on the eggs
