Cockatiels at a Subway (Fast food restaurant)

I brought them in their little backpack, and they seemed to be alright. They were shaking, a bit, however, and then they just climbed around in the backpack. I was concerned regardless, and hurried to leave because I was worried something happened to them. I heard many stories of people bringing them in some places, and the lady was also chill about the birds (mostly cause they were in their backpack).

Just to ease my concerns, are they going to be fine? I think they will be, and they are behaving normally. I know birdies hide their illnesses. Should i ever bring them at a fast food chain ever again? No McDonalds, or BK? I plan on bringing them to Target, Walmart, or Safeway eventually. Maybe my local Taco restaurant (They likely may not be bothered as long as they're in their backpack too-), but I wont bring them anywhere near food places if it's a safety issue for them, and mostly other customers too.

It sounds to me like they were probably overwhelmed and stressed by everything around going on around them so leaving the restaurant quickly was the right choice. It’s great that you want to take your birds with you, but maybe stick to less crowded places for now and build up to that slowly.

Thanks, I was a bit paranoid. That would make more sense and I'll stick to that process

Also, I would be careful about taking them to restaurants because of potential smoke or fumes from cooking which can be toxic to birds. I would think a sandwich shop like Subway would be fine in that regard, though!

Yep, that's a reason why I asked. I was worried their ovens would be laced with the the toxic fumes. Even with fans inside, it's a closed shop so it probably spread all over the place if that were the case

THe concern about food places is valid. When I take Salty out (in harness) and we go to eat, I always go to a place that has outside service, like benches or what ever. Plus eateries are usually air conditioned to a fair thee well, and as it gets hotter out, the change from heat to cold to heat is not good for them.

Yeah immediate temperature changes aren’t good for us either. This is good to know!!
