Male Eclectus died 2 weeks ago- only 15 years old
Found a blue male Indian Ringneck
I'm currently grieving over my male Solomon Island Eclectus-2weeks today. I've had small birds, doves, parakeets, love birds and 2 parrots including "Solomon"
( my SIE). Long story short, last year developed an abcess due to feather picking, almost died. Got him through that, then saw another Avian vet for another opinion, feather picking was not getting better thyroid was low but before that test came back he gave us "visteril" antihistamine for severely itchy skin. It helped, but I believe it built up in his system so I rushed him to a ER vet because he fell off his perch in night cage and hurt his leg. I got him home she administered gabapentin and for the last 2 hours before he died I held him in my arms. Anyway enough said!!
I can't cope with this loss and decided on a baby Blue Indian Ringneck I searched high and low for him and need to learn much more than I already do, I was hoping this site was especially all about them, but see maybe it is not
Can anyone provide information?

Hi Swill55,
I am a new bird owner myself and don't have any information to share, but wanted to say that I am so sorry for your loss.
However, would like to say that I have had a very positive experience here and hope that you find the support that you need!
My little conure is my first bird. I have always adored birds and wanted one, but due to my crazy work schedule never thought that I could devote the time required to care for one properly. I hope that as I gain more experience, that a Blue Indian Ringneck will be the next addition to my family.
Can't provide a wealth of "expert" advice.... but can offer an abundance of moral support!
Good luck!
Robin

Hello and Welcome to the forum!

Deepest condolences for the loss of your Eclectus.

If you could be a bit more specific with your questions about IRN's, perhaps we could help. We have a great group of IRN owners with lots of knowledge and experience. Here's a link to our IRN section.
