Domnijoe - The Art Studio and Bird Herder's Residence

I kinda wish Nameliss would be so satisfied. Getting her to go to bed is a struggle. Treats mean nothing. She roams about the cage. Telling me to go to bed. Banging toys. Drinking water. And more. I have to turn lights off and on for periods. Time for this varies. A few to 15 minutes. She has her favorite and her alarm perch. The alarm is for thunderstorms with the booms. I think because her favorite doesn't have wing flapping space.

1) Yvons is turning his beak up at the Bird Street Bistro I'm offering the other birds, even when it's mixed with his regular veggies. Stubborn brat.

2) My mom is like, 'Why don't you move to the second floor in your current building instead of moving to seniors housing?' I won't say what else she said (it infuriated me and hinted that my animals might be taken away), but she did have a point about moving to the second floor. It'll be easier on my knees having one flight of stairs rather than three to climb several times a week.

Not a bad idea. If you're happy where you are then check it out. Won't hurt to look.

Especially if the waiting list is several years long in the building I'm interested in!!

OOooooch. The landlord is trying to raise the rent by $146. Depending on my finances, I might be moving sooner than I want.

That's horrible. What do you have planned?

For now, I plan on staying. There's a petition circulating, trying to get the rent increase changed, and I signed it. If worse comes to worst, I'll move into public housing, even if I have to give up some of my animals :( . Last case scenario, tho.

On another note: Yvons is NOT a fan of the Bird Street Bistro. He picks out the veggies I mix with it and leaves the rest of it, preferring his pellets to any leftovers. What a brat. The others eat theirs with gusto.

Yvons is expanding his vocabulary! But for the life of me, I can't remember most of the words he says. Sometimes he says 'Good boy, as I tell him he's a good boy when he crawls into his cage at bedtime. He also did the first scream of death today, in front of me. Got his toe trapped in something while I was trying to let him out. OY he was displeased!

Other than that, everything has been going well with the flock. Got new toys for everyone, and so far only the green cheeks have been playing with theirs. Yvons likes to hide behind his mat and watch things go 'round. Vortex, too. Red and Charlie.... I think it might take a few days for them to adjust to the new foraging shredder in their cage.

Spray bathing the birds went over like a lead balloon... except for Vortex, who was in her glory.

OH! And been catching the conures saying new things, too. It's so garbled I can't make it out, but it might be 'Now what?" which Charlie says alllllll the time, LOL.

This is one is cute. It's should be in POTM. Something like...OK coach could you repeat that one more time...or two?

Dear Yvons -

Why must you wake me and everyone else up at 6:30 am? When you wake up, Charlie wakes up and so does the rest of the universe...

Love,
Your humble slave

Dear Yvon, why are letting your pet over sleep? Mine better be awake at 0545. Then out of bed ready to attend to me at 0600! Practice harder! Get your pet trained!
Nameliss pet trainer supreme! ;)

So I'm revisiting the idea of getting a cage to use as a play cage for Vortex and the smaller birds. Winter is waaaaay too prey-driven to trust with birds smaller than Yvons. She sees the smaller birds, and she goes bonkers.

Too much danger, so a play cage (a better one) it is :) . The cats I can manage with a squirt to the face with water, but Winter is hyperactive and barely reacts to anything when she's hyperfocused. In the cage, the birds are okay. OUt? All bets are off.

Sorry. Rambling. Been up since 6 am and it's 5:30 pm. I iz tired. LOL!

Soooo... having problems with the seller of the used bird cage I want. I'm trying to coordinate pickup, and the guy isn't answering his emails... or he answers them once a day, in the evening, when everyone is asleep. Let's hope he gets back to me today about this afternoon. UGH..

The birds are so happy to have peanuts again. They see the bag (even the dog), and everyone goes wild. Are they spoiled? How can you tell?

Nope, they're not! True spoiled is when they can differentiate the rattle of different types of bags. Then come a running!

I was feeding the birds their veggies today, and I showed Charlie a carrot, said, 'carrot,' and what did my little monster start saying? "Carrot! Carrot! Carrot!'. He picks up new words soooooooo fast.

Been training Vortex to get used to being moved around via a rope perch. She's sneaky. I offer her a peanut to get her to step up, and she finds a way around the perch to get her treat! Little stinker.

And got a decent pic of Yvons flapping while he was out of his cage! Proud of myself and my exercising doofus :D. (PS - ignore the pile of poop under the dinosaur. Trying to figure out a way to clean it without being bitten...)
